Results of T7 loads

I had an inclination to burn off some T7 today so I took out the Keith Nose 360gr HD's, Reminton KleanBore primers and set up the 50 yrd range. My goal was to see if I could prove out the difference 10 grs of T7 can do to a grouping.

I did not alter the reticle or the point of aim. I fired only 6 shots with each load and cleaned the plug and breech after 6 shots.

the 1st was 100 grs of loose powder T7...

I was really pleased to see how the results showed the grouping getting tighter with each reduction in powder.

I will try a set with 70 grs of powder the next time I'm out..see if it gets better.

Then when I'm done playing I'll adjust the reticle to bring the group 1" high of bull for hunting next week.

I'd like to see 110 gr too. :D

The group from that 80 gr load is sweet! Have you ever tried shooting into a box of wet newspaper to test bullet performance?

Looks good, I'm curious to see whats gonna happen with 70grs, I think you might tighten up your group pushing that heavy 360 with 70-75gr of T7

I was shooting 80 grains of BH209 for the last few years with a 250 SST from my CVA Kodiak. Was shooting less than 1'' groups at 100 yards. Bullets passed through the chest of my kills leaving the same size exit hole as the entry. This year I bought a new gun, an Accura V2, which shoots the same grouping with 100 grains of BH209 and a 4'' grouping at 200 yards. I shot 3 deer with it this year, all lung shots with exit wounds the size of a toonie and very little running from the shot bucks. They bled out in 20 yards. Therefore, velocity makes a very distinct difference on the performance of the 250 SST's.

The Hornady SST's are known to be a tough bullet. I liked them in my Omega but they were a bear to load.

I was out prepping for the hunt next week and my 'buddy ' was sitting in the tree beside my stand again. Of course I didn't have my camera, I'd sure like to get a pic before I evict him :)

If that's your 50 yard grouping while you're shooting unassisted (maybe standing) with a scope, than that's pretty darn good. If it's off a bench, then I'd be checking your gun to see what's wrong. Loose rings or plastic residue in your rifling if you're shooting sabots ?. All I own is a bare bones TC Omega with a cheap $80 Bushnell scope on it, and it will literally shoot one hole in the paper at that range. A 3 shot group at 100 yds will maybe go 1.25". using 250gr TC Shockwaves and 100 grains loose T7. My wife has the identical gun and it shoots the same. Pretty much any brand of scoped inline I've seen should be easily able to give you a 1" group at 50 yds, if you're shooting solid off a bench.

No I don't shot 'solid off a bench'..no point in that unless I'm mounting a scope and want to align the two axis (optical/mech). To continue to prove it's aligned is a waste of good ammo..LOL.

I don't hunt like that so no use practising like that :)

Most of my shooting is done shoulder mounted, using only a barrel rest or off hand ...hunt scenarios.
