Just wondering how people and dogs are doing with this cold weather? How are the kennel dogs doing? And how active are owners and dogs with this weather? I know some breads require a lot of exercise as they have a lot of energy to burn off what do you do run them on a tread mill?
I plan on keeping my dog in a kennel (I have already designed it and it will probably be better insulated then my house as well as a hound heater) anyone else keep there dogs in a kennel? and tips or tricks.
It's hurting me more than the dogs....I couldn't do up the button on my flannel lined jeans yesterday ..LOL
It's hard with all the snow and frigid cold to get out for our 30 minute walks. Fortunate I can kick the lads out the door and let them run around themselves, but they don't stay out long. I can tell they miss the long walks.

My kennel dogs have been living in the house the last couple of weeks.
Do you find they do well in the house as they are kenneled most of the year, like do they ripe the house apart, accidents in the house?Quote:

Both the dogs and I are getting stir crazy, especially the young one. She needs to work so we have been going to a horse arena to do some training. Can.t get the long marks but can reinforce the obedience and teach skills that will transfer into the field come spring. Most of the lab people have headed south. We do have lots to territory for them to get out for some exercise during the day but they don't stay out too long.
Mine gets walked everyday but in these temps it's only a 45 minute on leash one. He's ready to eat the drywall but this happens every winter.
My old girl and my 9 year old sit at the door regularly looking at me. The JRT is DRIVING ME CRAZY! Chewed up the remote for my new tv yesterday. To morrow and Sunday are supposed to above -10 so we all will be out both days. My Dad kept his beagles in an out door kennel through the old awful winters - no problems.
Mine is driving me nuts as well but this constant -24 stuff makes it impossible to do much of anything. This morning just taking him out to do his business you could see the bitter cold was bothering him, he kept lifting and licking at his paws - and we were only out a few minutes.
I love New Brunswick, but wouldn't want to live there all year. It would be hard to find your kennel.:)
