right it is not that he could not hunt in that area it is just that he was not allowed to shot a doe ,if it had been a buck he would have been fine ,lessoned learned .Dutch
I wonder who turned him in, the phone tip included all the info....should be a good story behind the whole sorted affair.
I wonder what this guys was thinking? Obviously someone saw him as he loaded the deer into his vehicle. It makes you wonder if he's done this sort of thing in the past and finally pissed someone off enough that they reported him.Quote:

Funny it happened on December 15, 2014. That same evening I was sitting on the ground with my crossbow, does all around me as close as 7 yards, no venison in my freezer and no doe tag for the unit I was in. It never even crossed my mind to take a shot and I'm left with a pleasant memory of watching those deer trying to figure me out. Different choices, different outcomes.
It sure sounds like a Paul Harvey "The Rest of the Story" event.
I could see potentially making a mistake however it seems way more to the story than we're given.
I just can't believe he'd be so dense as to be contravening a game law with intent AND then involve a butcher.
To me, he intended to break the law, was caught and the fine seems to reflect that. Any thing else and the judgement seems excessive.
Depending on he availability of tags in zones, its not to hard for people to figure out what's going on.
In the end of 55B (which is a tough doe tag draw) there are guys who apply for doe tags in nearby zones (58,59) and use the tags in 55B. It's not a well kept secret and if you saw one of these guys with a doe, the assumption that it had a doe tag for a neighboring WMU would be correct 95% of the time.
If you are in a hard to draw WMU and guys are shooting tons of does, its not too hard to figure out what's going on.
If it was dropped off at the butcher whole with the hide (and tag) still on it...well that is just one step below turning yourself in.
^Definitely a lot more tags available in 49 than 53 but both were sure things.
Or he got desperate as the season closed in those WMU's on December 15th - the day before the illegal act took place. Either way, BUSTED for breaking the law and probably lying which is why he didn't get the Set Fine of $200.
