my inlaws were over and we had a talk about his half ton and his camper ,he says he has to have a yearly inspection sticker on his chev Silverado 1500. to pull his 24foot camper ,,,is this right ,what about us pulling the 23foot proline I am sure it would out way his 24 foot rv ,,as it is a salt water boat with a 225 etec ,,,this is the first I have heard about this safety being done every year ,,what say the masses ,,,is this a scam to feed the liberals pockets ,,Dutch
No way,no how in Ontario. What province/state are they from? That would make a difference.
thy are in Ontario and say that the MTO is stopping people on the 400 hwy and giving tickets for not having the safetys ,,he has a yellow sticker on his truck now from a yearly safety now ,,,I never heard of this ,,,Dutch
Dutch I think the laws says anything combined total weight of 10,000lbs needs a sticker... I found this article below interesting...

IIRC,Last5oh_302 is a retired MTO inspector. It may be wise to shoot him a PM. This is a new one on me,but,it may be because your in-law's truck is commercially licensed and his trailer requires trailer brakes,but,that's just a guess.

Dutch, RV's are exempt from stickers, and always have been. He likely doesn't require one on his 1/2 ton either.

If his pickup is a dually it is considered a commercial vehicle hence the need for an annual inspection sticker.
Fun fact all pick up trucks in Ontario are registered as comercial vehicles. You might have a little red sticker in the top corner that says "primary personal use" or something like that, but your ownership will say comercial.
Comercial vehicles have black numbers / letters on the plates
passenger vehicles have blue numbers / letters on the plates
so even a half ton non dually pick up truck is a comercial vehicle
The yellow sticker / anual safety is caused by the gvwr not the number of tires.Quote:
