I'm amazed it came to this. I do like the timing though as it discredits the Liberal brand this close to an election. Although that didn't mean anything the last time when Wynne got a majority with massive corruption and police investigations hanging over her. Toronto would vote for Wynne if she campaigned from a jail cell.
Just did a quick check on Google News (typically a quick way to find out how quickly a story is being picked up by mainstream media). I am happy to report there is a bow wave on this one ... CBC, CTV, Globe & Mail, Sun
Of course it will be some time before this goes to trial. However as we all know it has everything to do with perception. If it is percieved there is enough evidence to convict then Lougheed will be found guilty in social media long before he ever sees a judge. One can only hope this causes significant damage to the Liberals in Ontario at both levels.
Now then, what does Wynne do? If she supports him and he is found quilty then there is an appearance of implication. On the other hand if she throws him under the bus she risks a mutiny. The others may turn over and spill their guts in the hope of negotiating a deal with the Crown prosecutor.
True enough but it Taints JT for associating himself with Provincial liberals where there are now police charges laid against them. This pretty well cancels out the Duffy scandals. Probably will help the NDP most though as they are fighting for the same anti Harper voting pool. Best we can hope is vote splitting from the left so Harper can squeeze up the middle. Ontario is the battleground and the NDP is not doing well in seat count here.
I still think Sorbara is guilty as sin as well. What am I saying... so is Wynne.
I am so looking forward to 2018 when the next election comes. If Patrick Brown managers things properly (and I believe he will) they can kick the Liberals to the curb - maybe with so few seats that they don't even meet the criteria as a party.
Now then, in the near term we wait to see how the media soaks this up in the next week.
WOW, that didn't take long. Now trending as the top story in Google News. Everyone loves a scandal!
I wonder how this schmuck likes his view from "under the bus" !!!!!
I am wondering if Lougheed wasn't thrown to the curb in and under the bus in some kind of deal to save Sorbara?
Sun news said..."Deputy premier Deb Matthews could barely contain her glee as she confirmed in the legislature Thursday that Sorbara had been told by police that she will not be charged."
