Bears - When is it too late?

Just wondering when it is too late to be worth hunting/baiting for bears?
Looking for info regarding the Port Loring area, or similar.
Would I see any activity on the weekend of Oct.24/25?
Season goes to the end of Nov. but I think that would be too late?
Short term forecast for freezing over night.

Probably waaaay too late. Bears would likely not be denned yet but their feeding binge would be over.
IMO the season runs to the end of Nov so that MNR can simply say they're giving hunters more opportunities to hunt. Its one way to detract from the issues of less moose tags and lost access across the province.

We shot 3 bears last week off our baits . At the start of the week all 7 baits were active by the end of the week none were being hit anymore and the trailcam pics of bears had stopped so im sure will still see a few but its coming to and end

Ive seen bears up until November. Had them coming to bait until the end of October.

Agree that its a bit late, and the feeding binge is over. But they are still around - I've seen them and lots of tracks during deer/rifle. Shot a big one on the last day of deer season 2000.

If you're in an area with lots of acorns, about the third week in September is too late - but most places I've checked are pretty poor for acorns this year.

I had a bear hitting my deer feeder in late November last year. But if I was going to start a bait hunt in late Oct I'd sure want to have some major concentrated scent products on the go, as well as multiple heavy honey and bacon burns to try and bring the bruins in fast. Plus you'll need some sort of bait. Popcorn is light and if you pop it fresh up there you can bring tons of bait for the volume it takes up. Add some jello berry flavors and some cheap vanilla in spray bottles to the popped corn and you're all set.
Certainly no harm in trying. Depending on the food supply up there this fall they may still be quite hungry. Good luck with it.

thanks all. heading up this weekend for a hunt. old man was supposed to come but cant make it. next time we can get up is not until the 23rd. wasn't sure if it made sense to keep the barrels out or bring em in when we head home on Monday.
guess I will wait and see how this weekend goes.
neighbours talk of shooting bears during deer hunt in November, so I guess they're still around.

They are still around but any bears shot in late October or as late as November are more likely animals that the guys just happened across and were taken only because the opportunity arose--not because they were targeting them.

We just got back last week seen 1 bear on the road about 0.25km from our bait but nothing hit the baits all week.

Just decided to hunt bear a few weeks ago so started to bait last Saturday, had my first stand yesterday afternoon and nothing. Back he checked my trail cam and so far got 1 doe, 1 fawn, 6 pointer and to my surprise one bear two night ago (area 46). Going to put more bait today and hope to attract a few more black one.
