Who's the proud pup
Now this is hunting weather crisp, cool and a stiff breeze to help with scenting. Day started with a refresher course with a couple of planted pheasants. The breeze help lock up the pup at quite a distance. Firmed her up however still doesn't like the taste of feathers bit sad watching her drag back a pheasant by a wing tip at least she got the job done. After that it was live fire time. Into the bush and once she burned off some puppy energy settled down to business. The woodcock were sitting tight today and although it gave us a chance work on steading her up. She manage to lock down 6 today however kicking them up really doesn't offer much of a shot so they are there to play another day. The grouse well not so lucky. She manage to get the drop on a couple long enough to give me a shot.

Looks like she is well on her way. If she is holding grouse, she is doing something right!

Any pup that can hold down an evil Southern grouse is doing beyond well. I would say she's doing great. Hell hitting one in that thick leafy cover right now is a feat in itself.
