Michigan out of doors

I always like browsing this site and watching Canadian hunting shows. As a kid though growing up in the late 80s early 90s I watched mega (for the time) fishing shows on the TNN network (yes it was a channel and not a wrestling promotion) like Bill Dance Outdoors, Hank Parkers Outdoor Magazine and the In-Fisherman more than cartoons. In the summers I was the equivelant of a rink rat on the GM Pro Bass Trail thanks to my Dad so I was well aware of who Bob, Big Jim and Rocky were. I was also lucky enough to get PBS Detroit on cable and watch my first hunting and fishing show Michigan Out of Doors. It was the only hunting show I knew about for a long time.

Well about a year ago I stumbled onto their YouTube channel and was amazed. Same awesome show and they are still doing 3-4 full 30 min shows a month. Started catching up on episodes a few weeks ago again thought I'd post this. For those who remember or who have never heard about it, check it out.

Growing up and watching Fred Troust was a staple in my house. I want to say it was on Thursday night. When Fred left the show it just wasn't the same.

Michigan out of doors is still on TV. Thursday night at 8:00 pm and Saturdays at 11 am I believe.

I can remember The Red Fisher Show at Scuttlebutt Lodge being my favorite. It was the start of the fishing and hunting shows,at least,here in Canada. It can still be found on YouTube. I swear ol'Red and his guests were half hammered when they did those shows. They were hilarious.

I watched TNN as well, great hunting and fishing shows. I really enjoyed Buck Masters hosted by Jackie Bushmen, one of the best deer hunting shows I have ever seen. To bad they don't make em like they use too.

I watch this show on a regular bases since i am just over the border in the Sarnia area. A good show but a little hokey but very down to earth. Another good Michigan show is Under The Radar.

I met Red Fisher about 18 years ago at the barber getting our hair cut. I think he passed away a few years later. Very nice man !

Red fisher was before my time, but the father in law always calls a Sunday hangover a "red fisher", because you just lay on the couch watching red fisher haha

I met Red at the sportsmens show many years ago and he signed my copy of his poems. He was "in his cups" at the show and a 40 pounder of CC was tucked under the counter.lol..........................Daniel
