They covered this in Dougs message board and apparently was an admitted double load. Doing that with any muzzleloader and you have just made a pipe bomb.

It amazes me this happens, so easy to avoid....besides having your range rod marked.....my mentor had me pick up the habit of doing a controlled 'primer burn' to remove moisture etc at the start of the day. That action prevents a forgotten load from a previous shoot causing a double load. Always fire one off before I start the first load of the day.

As we get older we tend to forget more, so you always have to be 'sure' not guess it's clear.

Many people shouldn't own any kind of firearm.

Ouch. He can only blame himself. Was shooting my 10ml2 today and always check with my ramrod before loading. No exceptions, it only takes a second.

Wow, I am guessing he is left handed for that right thumb to be taken off....
I use a line of tape as my guide on my ramrod to double check my load and bullet seating.

What I do is use a small flashlight and shine it up from breach end. If you see light shining up the barrel you are clear!

Should mention those barrels are proof to 108000 psi apparently.

An air gap with smokeless is not a problem, blackpowder though is a lot different.

Nasty, he will not have a chance to do that again.
