Old aluminum with no hull I.D. Plate

Hey fellas, I have a 12' aluminum boat from the '60's that was under a friends cottage that was gifted to me. I want to put my
15hp motor on it. Apparently because the motor is over 10hp I need to have it registered/licensed.
Can't do that without an I.D. tag that either rotted off or never came with.
Anybody else run into this?
Other than putting a 9.9hp sticker over the 15 on the engine cowl is there any way to get it licensed without an I.D. plate?

ps, I have no idea what year, make, model, hp rating this thing is.

Got a picture of the boat, might be able to identify it with a lot of other lookers.

A few years ago I was given a 14' Fiberglass like that with a 40 hp on it. No papers anywhere. Seems to me I called service Ont or Canada, and followed instructions. No problem except my wife doesn't like the old clunker so I never did put the numbers on.....and it now sits in my yard.

Yep as patvetzal says register ....just follow the instructions .

I have an old steel boat with no plate. No problem getting numbers for it. I think you have to swear something to that effect.

OK thanks fellas. I'll call instead of trying to do it online. I'm still a little confused about the register vs. license thing. To register i gotta make up some kind of name?

Just a thought. It's a rare 12 ft tinny that's actually rated for 15 hp so I hope the transom is up to it. Specially with a boat that old.

Thanks smitty, I'm aware of that fact too. I'm fabricating a new .125" 6061 transom for it complete with brackets and braces.
Alot of work some might say for an old tinny but as a fabricator it's more of a hobby for me. This boat may well get the controls and a console just for fun. I'm too old to be lifting this boat onto a car top anyways lol.

The only 12 ft. Tinny I ever saw rated for a 15 hp was a Springbock. It was wider than a regular 12' from what I remember

You need to license it. Licensing is for personal water Craft.
Registering is for commercial Craft.
The quote below is straight from the transport canada website.

A Pleasure Craft Licence is a document with a unique licence number for a pleasure craft. The number serves as identification for the vessel and allows search and rescue personnel to access important information in an emergency. No fee is required to get this licence.

A vessel used for pleasure, recreation, or daily living is a pleasure craft

It's free and lasts for 10 years
