The one you shoot most, and is the most accurate when YOU shoot it.
Any of those will deliver the goods if you do your job.
They will all do the job Terry , I like to use my blackpowder
Accuracy isn't that big a deal when you're hunting over a bait as rifle distances are seldom over 50 yards. I'm not a fan of the .270 so my choices are the 7 mag or the 300. Those 2 have a pile of bullet choices.
Any of those will kill a bear with ease, one thing that was told to me about fall bears is that the fat will plug up the hole and stop them from bleeding out. These friends who guide for bears suggest a 30 cal or larger, not because you need it to kill the animal but rather the entrance and exit holes tend not to fill up as quickly with fat and if for any reason you need to track it the bigger hole will help. They suggested my 12ga with sabot slug over the 6.5x55 mauser, as an example. They actually recommended the 30-30 over the 6.5x55mm or a 270.
I am leaning towards my 300 Win Mag but I know either of the three will have no problems dirt knapping a black bear (the one in my avatar was taken with my .270). Just fun to hear others opinions
I have Federal Trophy Bonded Tip for my .270 WSM and 7MM and Remington Hypersonic Ultra Core Bonded for my 300 Win Mag. Hope to be heading up mid next week
I realize these 3 calibers are available for you. Each will work fine.
If I was looking for a new bear gun it would probably be a Browning BLR in .308.
As Fox suggested, I would seriously consider a 12 gauge with slugs. May not be sexy but should meet all your needs.
WOW - that's a very interesting white tail mount in your avatar.
What kind of optics are you rifles wearing? I like low power like 1-4 or even rifle sights for baited stands. I want a large FOV when game is close
270 WSM.......Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40
7MM.............. Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40
300 Mag....... Bushnell Elite 3x9x40
All guns are used for bear, whitetail and moose
Whatever gun you can shoot the best.
They are all good for bear and doubt the bear would notice the difference between any of the calibers you listed.
Shot a couple with .300winmag from 5 to 250 yards. Over kill really but better than not enough
