Managed to get in for the second week of shotgun in the controlled hunt and only got out Monday morning, Friday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday. Never saw anything during my rifle week in November and up until this morning didn't see anything either. Last minute this morning I decided to change my setup because the wind was straight on me and terribly cold. I saw an area yesterday with tons of tracks and figured I'd give it a go today. Woke up this morning and didn't really want to get out of bed knowing the forecast for today but you can't get your deer from home so off I went. The last minute change had the howling wind right behind me but I needed some shelter so not much I could do. 8:10 a doe steps out and I make myself ready. Then a minute later a second one, bigger, steps out. I'm going to take that one. Shot goes off and I don't see the deer. I thought that I missed. The other one is still there so I figured that I might as well take that one. Another shot and she drops. Give her a few minutes and give thanks for being fortunate before I go to check her out and about 10 yards away in the bush is the second one. Both tags filled for this year on the last day after not seeing a single one all season. Freezer will be full again.
Congratulations to all who were also successful this year.Attachment 36279Attachment 36278
