How do you carry your Alpha/Astro?

Looking for ideas on the best ways to wear the unit while in the bush, especially when its equipped with a longer, extended range antenna.

I've been wearing mine on a lanyard around my neck, antenna hanging down. I've seen someone who makes a leather case/holster, but I'm not sure if its truly practical.

What do you folks do?

I make sure all of my hunting coats have a pocket chest high. I put the astro in there with the pocket zipped up and the long antenna sticking out to continue receiving a good signal.

Similar - left side mickey pocket in my jacket with the antennae sticking out.

Front pocket in my jacket, if I am wearing one, or side pocket of my cargo pants in warmer weather. I have seen some use the chest harness but I am too cheap for that, they look cool tho.

I shoot right handed so it sits in my left vest game pocket on a lanyard.

Bought one of these with my Astro 900, $13. clip it onto the front of my vest for easy reference. I look at it a lot as my dog tends to run fairly big and needs to be reeled in a few times until he burns off a little steam. No issues so far as far as security seems to be a solid set up.

I like to carry in a vest pocket on a lanyard. I found if the unit was loose and bouncing or swinging around, I would have to recalibrate the compass more often.

The 900's pretty good. Put it horizontal and it's right on for direction and distance. Usually within 200 yds though, not hound distance.

Do you mean accurate to 200 yard or works only within 200 yards?

I meant my dog's usually within 200 yards and the compass seems to orient quickly on direction and distance when I turn it horizontal to read it. I haven't used it to track dogs at the distances hounds may be away from the handler. The range is claimed to be 9 miles depending on terrain.
