After passing on two doable shots this season because I just couldn't be sure I could see a beard, I'm wondering about a small amount of magnification instead of truglo sights.

A red dot scope doesn't magnify typically so I'm wondering about a low power fixed scope. Does anybody use a scope on their turkey gun?

I had a Bushnell dawn to dusk scope on my gun when I first started but I found it large and awkward.

Does a red dot provide any improved imaging??

I put a bushnell trophy xlt 1.75-4x32 with circle x reticle on my turkey gun. Love this reticle for turkey but due to health reasons never got out to try it this season. May be hard to find one as I think they've been discontinued.

I saw a 2x Red Dot at the Gun Show a few weeks back....buddy wanted $100. It a bit bigger than the normal ones, about the size of a stubby shotgun scope.

x2. Great little scope for a turkey gun. That Gobblers head fits nicely in the circle x reticle.

I run a red dot with no magnification on my turkey gun.

I use binos to confirm if needed!

do red dot scopes vary in quality? I would assume so?

I have a bushnell 3-9 with the turkey-plex reticle. It has the circle as described earlier. I switched over from a red dot and haven’t regretted it. It makes things much easier than trying to line up open sights. The red dot cost me a couple birds due to either not being on, or dead battery.
A good friend and mentor in New York where I hunted before we had a turkey season here, turned me on to using a scoped turkey gun...

Thanks Rick. Picked up a used scope in great condition. Purchased the Bushnell mentioned in the first few posts. Wonder why the 1.7-4 X 32 Bushnell Trophy is a lot more expensive than the 3-9X40 Banner I have for my rifle. I'm guessing the Trophy is higher quality scope?

I have that trophy on my deer gun. I have to say bushnell has a good warranty. Put on, shot deer the next day at 100yd. The next year, took out to make sure still zeroed in. 3 shots later out to 75yd right on. 4th shot 100yd couldn't hit 4X4' target. Moved in all the way to 30yd before could hit to the outside of board. Called bushnell they said send it in, no charge, they sent me a new no charge. that was 3 years ago, so haven't tried the new one yet as I haven't been drawn in the controlled hunt since.
