Nice. Thanks for sharing that Mike. I plan on passing along my Flintlocks to my Grandkids.......................Daniel
I have granddad's guns, they do not sit on the mantle, most are/were project guns but that just makes them better to me, I have to work to be able to shoot them.
No one to give to,......no one to teach.
I have two friends here who are post 75 and each have some beautiful custom Kentucky rifles hanging on the wall that are destined to go to their grand kids. Lucky buggers... HaHa
Unfortunately, even though I'm from a large extended family (250+) ..I think I'm the only hunter and no old treasured guns that I know of.
I've got one of Grandads guns and 1 Uncles Gun (His son). All Guns will go to my son and he has been told to never sell, trade or give them away, if he wants more he can buy them. But they are to all be passed down hopefully he does.
I have no kids; I have given some very nice guns to my nephew and my brother's grandson.
Will be doing that some more in the future.
Never knew my Grandpa on my Dad's side that hunted, but I have an old pump 12 that I plan on sending to relatives in the US soon since my kids have no interest at all.
and DAMN!!!!! that song sure makes me miss my Dad!!!! (add smiley with a tear here!)
Shot my last 2 deer with my Great-Grandfathers, Winchester.
I was 10 yrs. when my dad passed. I have memories of dad, grandpa and me, out bird hunting on the bush roads north of the Soo. Dad was the only one who took him out in those days. (mid 1960's) Grandpa always said his guns were mine when the time came. He passed a few years later when I was 19. Unfortunately, a couple of my uncles swooped in and grabbed them before I could lay claim? I confronted them, but nothing was ever settled. Several of my cousins have them now I suppose, cuz I sure as hell don't?
That song and video has brought back a lot of memories.
