All sighted in for the Hunt and one heck of a 300 yard group.

Went out yesterday with my buddy to tune in one savage 220 and two custom smokeless ML’s plus buddy’s custom smokeless Encore.

He proceeds to shoot the last group/load which you can see circled in red. Pulled the paper to make sure we had a clover leaf in the wood backer and sure enough you could see 3 distinct shoulders. He was aiming for the single black dot.

Speed is being kept way below max attainable with 300 grain .458 TTSX. All three ML came in at 2515 to 2547 fps across all shots and each had ES of around 10 fps.

My final was the top 6 inch target, bottom right was first shot and just up and left was my final tweak. The other ml gave me similar result.

The 220 also shot well to 200.

Lined my 220 up yesturday. I put a Boyd's stock on it this summer and I dont know why, but my gun was shooting 4" low at 75 yards. Maybe I jarred the scope last year, dont know

6 shots later I put 3 shots all pretty much touching 2" above bullseye.

I'm shooting remington 3" accutips, what's your 220 like?

The 220 is my nephews. I pretty much only use smokeless ML now.

Having said that, it shot well - 2 inch group at 200 with 2 3/4 accutips. Very respectable!

I put a Boyd’s on one years ago and it makes a difference for sure. Post a pic please. I think more guys would do this.

Well it’s not too bad but I’m not real sensitive. I scaled it back last year quite a bit - ten grains.
These are heavy pukes and powder is slower burn so it tends to just be a push.
If you’ve ever shot a 458 win mag with a hefty gun then you know what this load feels like.

Some really nice groups, especially for 300 yds... thats pretty far..

No kidding, I'm lucky if I can get a 6" group at 200 yds...HaHa...

Bell River is right, that gives you the confidence you need to take a shot and know exactly where the bullet is going.
