Hunting geese during deer season.

Hey everyone

New to hunting geese and was looking for clarity about hunting geese during deer gun hunt.

I assume I need my orange on but can I remove it once I'm in my layout blind or does it have to be on at all times. I'll be hunting in the middle of a field.

You don’t have to wear orange while waterfowl hunting, only woodcock.
You should get a copy of the Regs and study them !!

Not even during the deer gun season. I was always under the impression during deer/moose gun season orange had to be worn

I'm with him deer not my thing geese only thing available outside of the bush. Looking for a field for friday

Migratory bird hunting is the exception to the rule. Not mandated by law so you're good to go no orange shouldn't be a safety concern as out in the middle of the field, hunting a beaver pond where you have to trudge through forest well might want to take along your orange for visablity

I'm heading to camp on Sat but I've got geese in the backyard now. I thought I was ok without orange in the field but jus wanted to double check.

Doesn't hurt to wear it in and out of the field. It doesn't cost anything to put it on.

If you were say driving right up to the water body or field you were planning to hunt. You don't need to wear hunters orange. However if you were going to be walking through the bush to get to a body of water you wanted to hunt for geese or ducks you still don't leaglly have to wear the orange no different than a small game hunter or a person walking through the woods. However if I was walking through the forest in an area where there might be deer hunters I would still err on the side of caution and wear my orange. In fact I wear my orange hunting everything except for ducks and geese. Deer cannot see orange very well and small game like Yotes, bunnies, grouse etc don't really notice it either or don't see it.

So no you don't need to really wear orange hunting Ducks and geese. But depending on your route to get there is your only consideration.

You were doing well until you mentioned small game hunter.....

Awesome responses guys. Really appreciate it. I wasn't to worried about safety as I'm walking out my backyard into which no one else has permission,I was more concerned about legalities. To me it didn't make sense to wear orange in a wide open field with decoys but just wanted others opinions.
