Prepare for an increase in trespassers

I am not sure what you guys are seeing out there but I have already seen an increase in trespassers on my hunting properties in the Niagara Region. There are fewer things that get by blood boiling quicker than a trespasser.........ok maybe a trespasser & thief.

With the increasing number of people not working due to COVID-19, parks being closed, schools being closed, & conservation hunting lands being closed I have a feeling that the number of trespassers will be on the rise this turkey season. I have already caught this clown on my cell camera several times (see attached) and last night I caught two guys on quads in one of our bush lots . When I stepped from behind a tree I scared the hell out of him and I could see that we was drunk, driving without a helmet and no plates. He did the typical trespasser dance - I did not know I was trespassing, we are just out for a ride, ect..... After I read them the riot act one of them tried to get cocky by asking who I was. I just snapped a pic of them and told them I was calling the landowner and that if I were them I would get the F%&*&K out of here quickly before he shows up and NOT come back.

It is just going to be one of those years.

I think his parents are siblings... :scream:

I hope there wasn't any No Trespassing signs, my guess he wouldn't have been able to read them.

Be sure the property is properly posted and gates are locked. Really,it's all you can do. Confronting drunk people on property you don't own is a job for the Police. Never put yourself in a position where you could get the peepee beat of you and be left for dead without witnesses or help.

The properties are well posted and the gates are locked - three of the farms are working poultry farms and the fourth is cash crops. The landowner is a good friend of mine for over 20yrs and I was told to treat this place like it was my own property. These guys went across 4 farms to get to this one.......and from my impression of these guys on the quads a no trespassing sign was not going to stop them anyway.

I would never put myself in a dangerous position. I can hold my own at the best of times.........plus I was holding a 12GA Beretta at the time of confrontation. It is very rare that I do not have a firearm with me when on my hunting properties. Plinking if fun this time of year

I sure get where you're coming from. Trespassers can make you crazy. Concealed cameras help a lot if you can find where those people are coming from to get a license plate or an address,then,turn it over to the CO's or OPP.

You're lucky the Police weren't called on you for brandishing the gun? All they would need to tell the LEO is that you aimed it at them. You're busted and in big do do. Gun(s) gone, gun license gone, and probably an appt. with the courts. Not that I believe you had the gun, but it sure sounds bravado on here.

In this situation the key is to call the police before the trespassers do. Get your version of the events in first.

I've encountered trespassers while carrying a firearm. It was not brandished or pointed at them. It does however get their attention.

You know an idiot with that attitude like that would steal a trail cam, blind, stand or whatever else they come upon. Too bad, one of the few places we can go to get a little peace and quiet and you come across an @$$#0le. I have a few suggestions but they may not be appropriate!
