It's a question of perspective,500 deaths from Coronavirus as opposed to 15K every year in Canada,alone,from Flu that none of the main stream media or the politicians ever mention.
Well we have 181 and counting for today alone! We have already blown away the previous daily death toll! It's ramping up it seems.
WHO states the Flu’s death rate is 1%, Covid-19 3.5%. With the recent increase in deaths, the rare is now higher than the 3.5% may be increased. Also, there is no vaccine to prevent Covid-19 but there is for the flu so it is more likely to infect people.Quote:

Myself instead of seeing numbers of those testing positive. I rather seen where and the number in icu and how they contacted it
Devastating in the long term care homes. Sounds like Ford is trying too get a handle on it. I know locally many of the workers have to work at two sometimes three homes in order to get enough hours to survive. This crisis certainly emphasizes much more needs to be done in order to protect our most vulnerable.
I’m not sure how much good comparing to the “flu” is. It’s a different beast. We still don’t know if people will get it again ( S Korea is reporting positives in people previously recovered). We still don’t know if it will leave many with permanent damage. Etc etc..
there are those that reference the Spanish flu. But that was a different world. Many lived in squalor, hygiene was not what it is today. Medicine was not what it is today. They didn’t even have testing back then. If this were 1918, it would be far far worse.

Covid to date: 34k
In the span of 4-6,months it’s going to kill what wars took years to do. Not sure how that’s not devestating in anyone’s book.
