I sure do on my boat and ATV. The ATV must be covered by law the same as any other vehicle for use on public roads and trails,the boat is covered for PL&PD in case I screw up at a launch.

Sounds like a silly question, maybe I am wrong but doesn't everyone have insurance coverage on all their toys?
No legal requirement for boats. Some marinas/docks require it though. It will almost likely be required if you are paying off a loan on the boat.Quote:

Boats don't have to but if you owe money on it probably something you should have.
Wouldn't be without it either, had storage shed collapse with snow load at end of March 2014 (got an unexpected dump of about 8" wet snow overnite) wrote off my Honda atv, 16 foot boat (salvaged 40 hp 4 stroke motor and trailer) 2 chain saws, various fishing poles and reels and a bunch of other stuff. Insurance adjuster came and had a look, quoted a price which I refused but they came up with a much better offer which I accepted. Ended up with new shed and bunch of cash for wrote off items. Other than inconvenience of rebuild it was a boneless experience with insurance co. and I was happy with results of claim.
Liability is a big thing......things can go wrong pretty quickly, and there’s no shortage of lawyers that will initiate a claim !!
