Remington 870 SPS

I have a question about the SPS. Is this a good Turkey gun? Or is the Mossberg 835 a better option??? Any advice good or bad.

I have an 870 SPS, my son and a buddy has the Mossberg. The 870, IMHO is a better built gun. The action is tighter, there is no “rattle” between the fore stock and barrel. I’ve used 870’s for some 50 years or so with very few issues.

Based on your experience Rick...which is better the SPS or Wingmaster. ?

The Wingmaster is a better grade than the SPS, but the actions are pretty much the same. I had a couple Wingmasters over the years and had no issues. We used 870s exclusively at work and shot thousands of rounds through them with only one extractor issue that I can remember. As far as fit and finish, I think the Wingmaster is a nicer gun.
IMHO....you can’t go wrong with an 870....

That's what the guy told me when I bought my first shotgun...he had a Wingmaster in on consignment for $125...bought it and was not disappointed. Thanks Rick..

I still have my wingmaster that my dad bought me back in 1976. I have put thousands of rounds through it without one failure. It still looks and functions excellent. I dont use it much anymore but it sits proudly in the front row of my gun cabinet

Wingmaster magnum is the best 870 you can buy IMO. Better than ANY mossberg

I'd shoot an 870 long before I'd shoot a Mossberg!

I use a Mossberg 535 Turkey Special and agree the 870 is better quality but I have had no issues with the 535. I have taken several gobblers with it
