Tactacam Reveal
Hi all, just a small post on my first experience s with the Reveal camera.
I have purchased 2 and have one up and running in Prince Edward County as of this afternoon. The other will be in 63a.
I have put 12 Lithium AA batteries in the unit. I'll try to monitor the life.
Downloading the app and setting it up the camera was incredibly easy. Once you have an account on the app. Power up the camera and there is an option to show a QR code. Put your phone with app over the image and it does the rest itself.
A really nice feature of the camera. While in setup mode. If you press ok before changing your screen options the camera will take one photo and immediately send to app. Nice to have confirmation before closing it up and walking away.
I set the camera to 24mp pictures. It does send lower quality to the app.

Do they offer a 'free' plan like Spypoint does? I've been reading some reviews on these and people are finding they get better signal strength than with the Spypoint micros. Also, I see the regular price is actually lower than the Micros.

Image in app is not the most crisp picture I have ever seen.

Very first night image.
I'm more satisfied with the night image in terms of quality and sharpness.
Also the sensor did a good job picking up that doe. I have other cameras up that would not have triggered from a deer in that position.

I bought 2 of these and I am pretty happy with them so far. The signal strength seems to be better than the Spypoints and they have a lot of great features. I love the feature of putting in a password to limit access by thieves, especially as you cannot put a cable lock on these cameras. The app is not great though (yet) and needs improvement. Also I wish we could access the cameras on our computer as well as our phones like Spypoint and we cannot. Note that the monthly/yearly plans is in US dollars too.
I am quite concerned that these are not "No Glow" cameras. Those nice bright night time images come at a cost - they spook deer and this has been proven. Around where I am the deer are extremely wary and skittish, and if they are spooked they will go else where for good. I am putting the flash at the lowest setting and also locating the camera a bit more elevated position and lets see what happens.
Overall, a great alternative to the issue plagued spypoint cellular cameras IMO.
