For me its easy grouse and woodcock... as the dogs don't point deer. What ever you chose enjoy.
Deer season is better in November anyways. I'm going to try out my recurve for the first time during this october though.
I like to get out in early October a few times before the deer start to catch on. Got a nice buck on the 1st once, just pure luck that I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I'll be out tomorrow afternoon just to check the box at least.
Good luck folks!

Archery for deer is my #1 focus but I only have a postage stamp sized spot and have had nothing on cam since early August, so while I will enjoy as many sunrises and sunsets as I can fit in, I don't expect to see much until mid to late October. However, if that 10 point does make a fatal appearance early in October, then a trip for grouse will definitely be scheduled, then maybe even a fall fishing trip for a couple of days.
I'll be in the stand Friday. Same old struggle for time to hunt. I hope to retire someday and still be able to hunt!! Lol
Good luck and play safe !

Ill be in the stand bright and early,
Won't even touch the bow til after the November gun hunt. Too many geese n ducks to keep me occupied.
Just seen 50 snow geese fly over! I hope they stick around for the weekend
Did see a nice high tined 8 pointer last night before dark, picture is too grainy(too dark) but I could see him in the binos easy enough

today and tomorrow i have off and sat with the bow. had a buck calling but not coming in. with the colder weather it felt like late october early november but the tactics aren't the same. im hoping with the cold night they will be on the move at least and i can intercept one tomorrow morning at the same spot i shot last years deer.
i sure enjoy this kind of cold over 3 feet of snow and subzero temps. will be bringing my winter coat though....
