Big buck down, hard work pays off!!
It’s that time of year again where We all disappear from the house and I can finally say it was worth it. I have spent thousands of hours over the past years following this guy. I had Pictures of him coming out consistently this September, so I knew I had to take advantage when October came before he turns nocturnal. Like many of you I spent opening day watching squirrels wondering where the hell is he. I continued to hunt the following days ( 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) and saw absolutely nothing like usual. By the end of the 5th day my back was shaped like the bent tree I was sitting on, and I still had booked one more day off work. With the cameras showing no deer activity it was very difficult to wake up and go the next day but somehow I convince myself that the day I don’t go will be the day he comes out. Saw nothing in the morning and afternoon. At about 5pm I glanced over to my left and saw half of an antler in a bush, right away I lift the bow aiming at my shooting lane down he’s trail. He did the typical slow motion walk through the trail, when he got 25 yards in front of me we had a 5 minute stare down which felt like an hour. He walked right in my shooting lane at 20yards broadside, then the long night started. As hard as it was dragging him out of the forest, it was all worth it.:D
