That sinking feeling...

... when you emerge from a got-to-force-your-way-backwards-thru-it thicket and discover that your favourite gun is missing its forend :(

45 minutes of searching turned up nothing. It was hard putting the gun away like this last night:

Went back today with a borrowed metal detector and success!

Must have walked within 2 feet of it 20 times yesterday and never saw it in the depression where it fell. My own depression has now lifted! :D

So glad you found it. Losing stuff in the bush keeps me up at night. Losing a forend would cause me many nights of tossing and turning.

Talk about blending in with the cover... It would have been a shame loosing it... Had the same thing happen with one of my favorite field knives... Never did find it and never thought about using a metal detector... What a relief it must have been finding it...

Yup Dilly & Bo, this was on par with the time I came out of the cedar swamp at dusk to realize I no longer had the hunting knife that my father gave me as a teenager. LOOOONG hike back in under darkness to find it right where I left it next to the rabbit guts.

Nothing like a game of hide and seek. Had a gps unit fall out of a pocket and didn't notice until I got back to the vehicle, althought tried to retrace my route couldn't find it. A year later almost to the day hunting the same spot looked down ant there it was- dead with no recovery- but found, had Nova slip his e collar over the summer on a training run. tried to retrace his path and luckly stumbled upon it. Currently have a lost lease in the forest hope to recover it next time out.

I remember being on cottontail hunt on public land and realizing that the compass I wore on a lanyard around my neck was gone. On the next chase I took a position and there, hanging from a branch beside me was a compass on a lanyard. But it was a different compass!!! I guess the forest gods took pity on me that day.

Glad you found it. I lost my hole turkey bag once when hunting with my brother on public land. Because I was holding to much stuff for the both of us, I must of laid it down on the floor. Got home and realize where is my . Looked on 3 different forest and finally found it after giving up walking back to the truck. Sometimes you win, i'm glad you won

I went coyote hunting one day only to discover I was missing the remote to my caller.... I went back to the last farm I was at, It was a week earlier and now a few inches of snow fell since.... Kicked the snow away from where I was sitting and found it, batteries and remote still good.
Glad you found it, looks like it blended right in....
