Pocket warmers

Just curious what everyone was using for pocket warmers since we are getting into that time of the year.

I started years ago using that charcoal POS that you light and lay it in the case that ultimately opened in your jacket or pocket leaving you with soot all over and a burn hold in your pocket. I then bought the Zippo butane hand warmer that worked amazing (hot and lasted for hours) but did have quite a bit of odor to it. I also found that if you left it in your hand muff or jacket pocket you can suffocate it and it would stop working. I was always curious if the deer could smell it and if it bothered them at all - either case I stopped using it for hunting because of the smell.

I then went with the Little Hotties disposable hand warmers. I bought a case of them at Costco as my kids were using them in their gloves as they reffed hockey. They seemed to work well enough but I did get a couple of duds every now and again. Last week my buddy showed up with an Ocoopa electronic hand warmer he picked up on Amazon. Same size as the Zippo hand warmer but a little thicker but this puppy was pumping out the heat. It comes in 2 sizes 5200mAh ($35) & 10,000 mAh ($40). It also has a built in USB port to charge your phone. I am curious to see how it holds up to late season hunting?

Good info thanks I still have my old charcoal one, I hear it is a collectors item. I also use the disposable 10 hr hand warmers.

Disposable for hunting and ice fishing for me.

I've got all 3 but only use the charcoal stick and zippo one for ice fishing. Never had any charcoal come out of mine, I keep it in the little fleece baggy. The disposable ones come in different time length too. Foot warmers are cats meow for me.

Never used hand warmers ,ever,and i am still Ok(i think)
However swear by Grabbers Body warmers,and would go extra mile to assure one is attached to my T shirt in +5 and below,while sitting for hours.

If moving-nothing for me...........

I use the heat hand pack buy a case every spring when they go on sale . I keep a few with my ice gear and only use them when needed so they last . You can slip them into the side of your boots if your feet get cold .

Edit I don't use them in gloves I keep them in my pocket and hold them every once and awhile.

use the toe warmers there great and went from the smaller chemical hand warmers to the larger body warmers as hand warmers can get them for 35 dollars on amazon for a box of 40 have worked great last for 18 hrs and you can place them in a baggie, where they will stop working if you are only out for a few hours and then take them out and finish using them, when you go out again. I usually use 4 at a time. one in each pocket don't need to wear gloves just keep my hands in my pocket. one on my chest and one on my neck. can sit all day from dark to dark.

got a couple longer wrist bands and stick 2 hand warmers in each one, warms up the blood before it gets to fingers that way just light gloves work well when shooting

I actually just bought this 9000mah hand warmer off amazon and used it once last week to see how it performs. I'm actually impressed. I ran it on low for almost 3 hours and that was plenty of heat. Then i charged my phone from 40% to 100% and when done, the unit showed 1/3 battery life left. I think that's pretty good.

I only use the toe warmers usually. I bought a hand muffler for this year and used it for the first time and by God those things are awesome. I hate wearing gloves. So whenever my hands get a little chilly I slip them into the muffler and they warm right up. I suppose if I want overkill I can pin a hand warmer to the inside of them. But they are plenty warm.
