Okay - there's another poor question. I don't use them to hunt or fish. But I use them a lot in winter for scouting. Is it really relevant what a showshoe enthusiast uses his snowshoes for?

Never used them I just think light thoughts and hope I stay on top lol. Living in the GTA there is never really a time that they are needed.
North is definitely a different story and would be considered a useful tool.

I use snowshoes to hunt, fish and work.

When I was a teen I use to go cross country skiing in NB looking for rabbits. I have used snow shoes when I lived in Miramichi NB and we had deep snow. Here in Eastern Ontario and as far as Mattawa I have rarely seen snow that I needed snowshoes. Generally there is not enough snow to need them or there is a good enough crust that it will hold my weight.
Like Werner said, kind of a poorly worked question. I own a few pair and use them primarily for walking the dogs 2-3 times a day in the winter . Break a 2km trail around the hay field and keep it open for the winter.
Never used them for hunting in all the years we've lived here. Truth is, very rarely do we have deep snow down for hunting season in Nov. I can only remember twice in 20 yrs that it was too deep to use the ATVs and we resorted to walking.
I sold my machine a couple of years ago, but when I had it, it was strictly used for getting in and out of back lakes for ice fishing. I always had my snowshoes along with me strapped to the rack, as did my fishing buddies. Never went into the bush without them! Were they used? Sometimes and sometimes not? Just having them with you is a "use", is it not? As Werner and MP have said, poorly asked question.
Snowshoes usually in my truck under the toolbox after January for coyote hunting.
Don't wear them a lot as if anyone has ever tried walking 3 high strung hounds on a lead with snowshoes on knows what I mean....lol
