Would you get on a MAX-8?

Just saw on the news that WestJet is bringing the MAX-8 back into service. Do you feel comfortable getting on this plane?

I have not been on a plane for 11 months now and really do not see it happening until 3Q or 4Q at the earliest. Pre COVID I was usually on a plane 2 sometimes 3 times a month and I really never thought about what plane I was on - Dash 8, 737, 767, 787, or A320. Personally I would not have any issues jumping on a Max-8 for a flight. I know very little of the inner workings of a jet airplane other than the basic physics of flight. The way I see it if a pilot, first officer and a crew, who know the inner workings of a jet airplane, are willing to jump on board and fly the plane I would feel comfortable to fly with them.

Nope, I wouldn't even put a squirrel on there. How many tests did they fake?

You can bet there aren't any tests that says : "UnKnown" like Pfizer's sign off on a drug we put in our body. :)

The National did a excerpt on it, talking to Canadian Pilots and inspectors. Looks like they have gone above and beyond to ensure it's safe to go. All pilots are getting mandatory training and they discussed the new measures to ensure it can't happen again.

I'd get on in a heart beat, but without a vaccine passport I guess I'll have to stay home and make Doug happy. :)

Yes, I would have no issues flying on it. Pre-COVID I was flying so often I barely knew (or cared) what aircraft I was flying.

Would prefer this one over the next “new” one to come out. This things been tested for 2 years by at least three world class aviation safety regulators.

The next upgraded airplane would be the one to make me wonder. Computer chips are hard to troubleshoot. Just look at the Cyclone the airforce dumped off the back of our frigates. It was an unintended input, caused by a specific set of flight inputs and sensor readings.

We are going to have to start hiring video game testers for the cars and planes we are making. If we don’t already.

If they don't already then they are screwed. I guess it is good that all these millennials who did nothing sitting in their parents basement playing games are no longer being mocked.

The pilots better be up to the newest thing, not at all like riding a bike.

Everything can and has been hacked, imagine the fun Hackers will have with Cars, trucks and transports. Fun Fun Fun. Planes are not yet connected to the internet or at least not the controls.

Unless it was a last resort to get away from the proverbial bear chasing you, I wouldn't set foot in any of the commercial planes. From a bit of insider info, there's a lot of things that get overlooked, not done or signed off that should keep more than a few planes on the ground.

I wouldn't give it a second thought, but not flying anytime soon from the looks of things

Same. No issues whatsoever. Flown all over Africa and Asia in different 60s vintage Soviet Antonovs and lived to tell. That being said can't say i was always comfortable with the state of those aircraft or the pilots for that matter.

To be honest I really hate flying, I'm the guy you can hear quietly saying "Ohhhhh Sh$$" when we take off and land. I prefer to have full control myself.

The only time I get nervous is when I board a plane and it still had ash trays in the arm rests.

I flew with my family across the ocean to Germany in the cargo hold of a C-130 Herc. . The seats were cargo slings and the bathroom was a toilet strapped to the wall with a curtain. Best flight I was ever on HAHa...
