Online PAL application??

I'm wondering if you can submit the PAL application form anywhere online. Or the places you can mail it to. I'm having lots of trouble finding any of this information online. e

Seems odd that I've been hunting for 9 years and still don't have my PAL. Personally I've never had the need to. Most of the hunting I've done is in 94A where it's archery only for deer. I was never much of a small game or hunter and even when I did I used archery. Plus I never did any waterfowl hunting. Even for blackbear I preferred archery. I'm applying now because I want to get more serious with coyote hunting before spring turkey and if I go on a solo bear hunt so I can keep a 12 gauge close. Plus it'd be nice to carry a .17hmr for grouse and hare on those northern camp trips.

If this is your first time applying,you must take the RPAL/PAL course(s) and jump through the hoops. Once you get a PAL,re-applying when it expires (5 years) can be easily done on-line. It's easy to find local instructors by checking with local gun shops. They all have lists and some even do the courses themselves.

Oh I already finished the course years ago and filled out the form, I'm just looking to see if there are any online options or a mailing address. Can you just mail it to any serviceontario or does the address have to be more specific?

Service Ontario has nothing to do with it. Firearms are federal jurisdiction. Goes to the RCMP. Address should be on the form.

Pretty sure your initial application to get your PAL has to go snail mail. Future renewals can be done online. With COVID they may have changed things but that's how it used to be

Mail your completed application form and all attachments to:

Royal Canadian Mounted Police
P.O. Box 1200
Miramichi NB
E1N 5Z3

If you filled it out years ago you should look at the new form. It has changed since I did mine a couple years ago. My wife and son are applying for theirs now.

Thanks! Yup I filled out the form recently so I'm up-to-date on the form. Only question I have is are you allowed to attach a photocopy of the safety-course completion form or do you need the original?

Been a while but i believe i received 2 or 3 colour coded originals when i took the course. One of those originals was required to be submitted - no copies at that time.

Best to call them directly and ask that question. Every time i have called they have answered the phone pretty quickly.

I heard their not even giving out licenses with the "covid 19 pandemic " not sure if its true but a friend of mine that wants to go for his gun liscense has decided not to due to him hearing about the new applications just sitting there and not being looked at what so ever. I would be curious to know because I told him next spring I'm doing a spring bear hunt and told w of my friends its a "guys weekend" you have 2 years to make it happen. Curious if I'm gonna be making this hunt by my self or with my wife either way I enjoy hunting with my wife its a nice break for both of us to get away lol

I would advise against a 17HMR if you actually want to eat your grouse.

My HMR keeps 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards (no wind). It has taken many grouse with head shots in the 20 to 50 yard range. No damage to edible parts whatsoever.

They still processing applications but are about 6 months behind is what I heard. With the current lockdown CFSC testing is stalled again so I'm hoping they will be getting caught back up. My wife and sons applications are going in the mail this week.

I use the 20gr hollowpoints with my HMR, don't explode like the 17gr vmax on impact.

Not sure about new licenses, but renewing was a breeze. I filled out renewal mid December, and had a new PAL in hand 12 days later...I was a bit surprised at the speed........

Same for me it was pretty fast turnaround for a renewal on-line.

My son just got his first PAL after having an apprentice license. He applied Aug 6th, the card arrived from RCMP Friday.
