Prevent scope fogging?

Something I've been meaning to ask for years... I have several scopes, some with purported anti-fog lens coatings. But they all fog under the same specific circumstances. Specifically, the outside of the ocular lens (not the objective lens) tends to fog on damp, cold days (wet snow, cold rain/drizzle or mixed rain/snow) when I'm sitting on a stand, gun across my lap or resting in my arms. I believe its caused by warm, moist air escaping from my body or gloved hands and condensing on the ocular lens. The objective lens, when generally tends to be a little farther away from my body, never fogs. No fogging whatsoever occurs when circumstances allow me to rest the gun away from my body, such as across a safety rail or leaned up in the corner of a blind. Any tips?

I've tried many products thru the years for my Bino's, same issue. I've tried the various 'anti-Fog' sprays but all fail. I did get one that wasn't to bad, it's called 'Cat Crap' I picked up at Mark's.

Since a scope is farther away from the face than Binos, it would probably work great.

I see since the pandemic, a few companies have come out with supposedly 'great' for people who wear glasses and have to wear a mask. Haven't tried any yet.

Scope caps. I have see thru clear ones on both my coyote and deer guns.

X2 Scope caps and I still spray lens with Zero-Fog before every hunt.

Flip up scope caps. All my scopes wear them. Wont go without.

X2. Butler Creek has a full line that will fit almost every scope model there is. For those that seem a tad loose,I use one small drop of LokTite and slide the cover on. Works like a charm from losing scope covers on the way into a set up.

They are well worth the $25-$30 for the set. Super convenient and they just work.

I had a pair that were a hair too loose, so I just put a single wrap of electrical tape around the scope and that snugged it up.

I go with caps as well, have a couple guns that still need them but added them to a few this past year as a test and I love them. The only issue I see is the sound, the "pop" when you open them up, but you can open them up early and do it slowly, well before you anticipate any animal showing up.

I also hunted with a guy that used rainX anti-fog for winshields, he said it worked but I never did that to mine. He also used rainX coating on the lens, the water then beads and does is easier to see through. No idea how it worked, ha ha.

I opened mine this past fall when I heard a deer coming. I estimate she was around 100m away when I did. She continued to approach without hesitation.

That said, if the weather is nice I leave them open anyways while on watch.

I don't understand how 'Caps' work to keep your breath from fogging up the lens when put the scope in front of your eye to take aim. The scope doesn't fog up just sitting in the open..it fogs up when condensation hit the glass.

I have had it fog because of the heat coming off my body, I had to sit the gun on my lap with the scope away from me to keep it from fogging up this past december.

As for fogging when you bring the gun up, yep, just hold your breath when you shoulder the gun then breath, that seems to work for me more often than not.

Ive never had that issue.

Where I have had issues with fogging is when the gun, particularly on those -1, rainy, wet snow miserable days and the gun is resting in my lap. The caps prevent that very efficiently. I also had a time where I was pushing, and I had the buttstock and rear of my scope tucked under my arm for a time. When I bumped a deer and raised my rifle, it was foggy.

Had this happen before, was able to still make the shot. But now with clear ones I keep them closed I'm ready to shoot, have shot many times with it still closed on wet/snowy days
