A thread like this was posted for Deer and it generated a good discussion, so let's try it for Wild Turkey with a Bow.
This is primarily for Archery...as the recommend shot placement for shotgun is pretty much limited .

I think between 3B & 3C would be the ticket
I just bought a crossbow last summer and have never shot a turkey, presented the chance I think I'd choose A2.

I always thought the magic archery spot was directly behind where the beard attached to the chest, so my pick would be B, on the line between 3/4.

I've killed a few with a crossbow (and compound) and my favorite (and lethal) shot is the "Texas heart shot". But in this scenario 3 C would be a very effective shot. If you're talking the "best" for me would be the intersection of the line between 2 and 3 and B and C. I've hit them there and they don't go anywhere. If you're thinking of the Magnus just make sure it clears your stirrup. TC
Good point, maybe a longer arrow?
I would put the pin on 3B and let it fly. Every turkey I've shot there didn't go out of sight before they dropped.

3C for me
I’ve only taken two toms using crossbow. First was a 3 B-C bolt went down on far side of bird breast damaged
Second was from behind mid back. Bird just flopped over dead bolt stuck halve way in the ground 10 yd infront of bird feathers flew for 10 yds no meat damage
Think I’ll wait for them to turn for back shot
Bolt cutters all I have ever used
I think I'm just gonna stick with the bolt cutters for now if I miss I might consider other options. Thanks for the info though.Quote:

People don't realize how small the vitals are on a turkey and that they're also obstructed from perfect view by a ton of feathers.
Also, people don't realize the vitals are just about the same size as the head and neck area on a turkey is.
I remember when I first started bowhunting turkeys years ago, the number of times I had to track birds which went two to three hundred yards before they died. Not because it was a bad shot, just not perfect, out maybe an inch, again because you really can't see the vitals on a turkey.
You hit a turkey in the head and they drop like a stone. Also you either hit or miss. So yeah, pretty much always a head shot for me.

We use these with the 2A shot placement, takes the head right off. Use a hanging pillow as a back stop to tune, different impact point then our broadheads. I'm always amazed how accurate they are.
