The Liberal government needs a data-driven plan
The pressure is on to justify the lockdowns.
"Under the guidance issued by the Center for Disease Control over two weeks ago, fully vaccinated Americans can gather indoors, without keeping their distance or wearing masks, with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk of developing severe disease from COVID-19."
"Here in Canada, Canadians have yet to receive any similar guidance. In fact, it’s been the opposite; there has been no clarity on when families can be safely reunited, even for vaccinated Canadians – never mind guidance on the conditions under which all other COVID-19 restrictions would be safely and permanently lifted."
"A year into the pandemic, we have tools like rapid tests, therapeutics, vaccines and data on how COVID-19 is transmitted. Lockdown measures were put in place to buy time to get these tools. Now that these are available worldwide, the federal government needs to tell Canadians how they’re going to be deployed, under what timelines, and, most importantly, how they’re going to be used to lift widespread restrictions permanently."
"Calls for reopening guidelines are being made by industry and civil society groups across the country. This is why Conservatives have introduced a motion in the House of Commons that will force the Liberal government to provide Canadians within 20 days a clear, data-driven plan to support safely, gradually and permanently lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Members of Parliament will vote on this motion on Wednesday."
"Canadians are resilient and have come together to protect one another. Now, the Liberals need to show Canadians that their sacrifice isn’t indefinite."

"All across Canada, everyone is working on their re-opening plans. Businesses, industry associations, sports clubs, you name it. Individuals and families are working on their plans for all of the fun things they’re going to do soon and the great reunions they’re planning to have."
"But not the federal government. Not Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He remains Canada’s biggest downer, seemingly happy to keep the nation under some form of restrictions for whoever knows how long."
"It’s not acceptable. It’s not leadership."
"Politicians in other countries, from across the political spectrum, are championing responsible re-openings."
