Threaded rifle muzzles. Why?
While doing some rifle shopping recently I noted small caliber rifles from Ruger, Howa, Mossberg and Savage with threaded muzzles. Perhaps there is some merit to a muzzle brake on a large magnum but what is the point to having them on a .22 rimfire, .223 or other small caliber? Suppressors are regrettably not legal, a muzzle brake on a rimfire rifle seems unnecessary and a threaded muzzle barrel and cap creates one more thing to lose or perhaps rust if your gun gets wet. What's the appeal?
