Letting that guy get out with a gun big mistake
Our Instructors at college warned us that complacency will get you killed. The next traffic stop could be our last.
Yep.....40 years ago. LOL From what I see and from what I'm told,I wouldn't recognize "the job" anymore. Political correctness, the proliferation of smuggled firearms, gang membership/gang violence combined with liberalized legal system,I wouldn't even get hired if I was to enlist for recruitment today (besides being an old bugger).
After viewing the video what mistakes do you excops think this cop made -
Approaching on the right side of the vehicle away from traffic is text book for safety. In this case, though, because the vehicle was higher than the officer who was standing down in the ditch,it prevented him from seeing inside the vehicle without opening the door. He actually asked the driver if he had firearms aboard and was told "yes". At that point, ordering the driver to stay in the vehicle with his hands visible while maintaining a defensive position instead of asking the driver to accompany him to his car was a fatal error.
One thing when they caught up with the killer they filled him with a lot of holes - I guess then a guy kills a cop the other cops ain't taken any chances and make sure he doesn't need a trail - that video could be used as a training film
Allowing him to exit the vehicle with said firearm in his hands on other side where officer can't see is very risky.
You see the moment the driver looks at the rifle to see its loaded, safety off then point of no return, He points and fires.
My God, Imagine being a police officer and watching this. Id think about it everytime I pulled someone over after that. Scary stuff as the driver seemed to be complying with everything.

Why haven't any cities been burned and looted over this?
Why is it cop uses gun cops bad guy his fault
When bad guy uses gun it’s guns fault
T, would you even want to do the job today with all the PC , and with the usual comments from people like our resident politician using terms like Gestapo cops?
Condolences to his family .
Unfortunately these kind of things happen.

The good ones step up and try to make a positive difference.
Like in any profession the finger is pointed at the bad ones.
Infringing on peoples rights deserve them to be called out.

Honestly, after talking to friends still serving who have managed to get their butts in the wringer over what seems to me to be the most petty,BS reasons,I doubt it. As for the "resident politician" and those ridiculous "gestapo" comments, check previous posts and their bad attitude motivation becomes crystal clear.
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — The police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb apparently intended to fire a Taser, not a handgun, as the man struggled with police, the city’s police chief said Monday. Canadian Press just released this one on the MSN.
Apparently there is a two way street when it comes to making traffic stops.

All these shootings seem senseless too me. But whatever happened to actually listening/doing what your told when a LEO asks you to do something?!? I was taught that when I was a kid, hunting in the bush or a traffic stop.

Your absolutely right, ever one of these incidents was a result of the perpetrator not doing as he/she was instructed to do. Almost all are resisting arrest situations.
Anti-police attitudes have permeated the past two generations. Especially in the Racialized Communities where lack of respect for Police authority in rampant.
Exactly, even the military officer recently peppersprayed by the cops, refused to comply. There’s a time and place to deal with an issue. During the interaction is not it ! It’s almost like these individual want to taunt the police into a use of force, not usually a good outcome.
Theres nothing wrong with telling an officer he/she is wrong, but comply anyway and deal with it later....
It's happening down south, with Police depts paying out huge settlements just to keep things out of court, some of these altercations are intentional. Take a beating while your buddy videos turns into a cash settlement.
That's the driving force behind officers wearing body cams in a lot of Police depts now.
Well there's two sides to the story - I am an law and order type of guy but I also see where there are a lot of cases where the cops overstep the bounds - I met some cops who are real wise guys - who take advantage of the fact their have the authority to do certain things - some over do it - the coverage that cops have when preforming their duties is excessive - you are told not to resist when some cop is beating on you - your told to deal with it after the fact but then find out that the cards are stacked against you and nothing happens to the offending cop - if I was a black guy I can see why most blacks don't like cops because of the way they are treated - if I was a cop I can see why dealing with a lot of blacks is challenging because so many young males are law breakers - the moral of the story is - don't be a cop - find another way to make a living
Take this latest case where the lady cop shoots the black guy thinking she is tasering the guy - the guy tries to get back into his car - let him go - there are several ways that you can find who he is and arrest him later - that goes for so many cases where a driver doesn't respond to a cop's lawful order - instead of chasing him because of a traffic violation and risking innocent lives let him go and arrest him later - and if it happens that the guy gets away with a traffic violation so what -
I believe the other day was the first anniversary of the tractor trailer and hockey team bus crash out west last year. At one point I Googled the map of the road the tractor trailer was traveling before the fatal crash, As I remember there were three or four intersecting roads a long the route, which I image had stop signs which the tractor driver chose to ignore because he could scout them out them before the intersection. At the fatal intersection there was a stand of tree that prevented him from seeing the approaching bus. But what heck at the other stop signs there was no approaching cross traffic so why not take the same chance at this one.- only this time there was!
It is truly amazing how individual can reach a certain level of complacency when laws aren’t effectively enforced. In fact I’m not sure in this province why they haven’t abandon the use of the stop sign entirely and simply replace them with the yield signs. I’ve even watch law enforce officers using the famed rolling stop, as everyone else. You can hardly fault the masses if law enforce sets the example. The story I got was we don’t do that anymore because it ties to much of our time up in court with motorists fighting the charge. Plus I suspect cities of any size would be perpetually in a state of grind lock if motorist actually did what the sign requires.- before checking for traffic out on the intersecting road fully lock down your brakes and halt your vehicles forward momentum. What a joke if that should happen LOL

So I guess when they are arresting someone on a warrant, and the person resists arrest, they should just let them go on their merry way ??? Maybe they should keep a trunk full of teddy bears, so they can give them out to people resisting arrest, which I add is another criminal offence ??!! Maybe that’s “New school “......you want !!
I don't know, I think old school policing is what's needed along with old school human behavior! You did something wrong, take your licks and learn from it.
Police used to earn respect and actually get it. Today's teaching tell kids and others not to have respect for the police. Now people are trained to believe that the police are bad, they will take your money and beat you and put you in jail.

I still don't understand how there's still no other riots around the States. There was 457 white guys shot by Cops in 2021, and 237 Black guys shot by Cops....there's almost double the amount of whites killed.....but not sure I even saw one of them one the news in 2021......
I'm going to stick my neck out and say this is the grand product from the government intervening in the parenting of children.
The government and their "talk to your children nicely" strategy for everything ... they did this ... a science experiment gone wrong
by psychologists that really had no idea what they were doing ...
There's no turning back from this now ... fend for yourselves, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg ....
