Last year my hunting properties were devoid of jakes. This year the jakes are running around in packs (minus one).

nice bird!, last year around my parts all i seen were hens, im gettting pics of jakes and toms now with a bunch of hens this year, looking good!
I’ve read where an abundance of jakes, was indicative of a good hatch the year before.....
Nice bird NP! Congratulations.
I have not seen packs of jakes in many years. I remember having groups of 5-6 regularly come in to a decoy. In fact, they were annoying at one time. Hardly see them now.
Jake in hand better than tag soup
The flock I saw sunday seemed a good mix of old toms, young toms and jakes. Granted it was a cold and windy day which I find limits movement. speaking to the land owner said he's seen 100's in the field. Will be interesting to see what happens the first warm sunny day i get.
That was my observation - tons of jakes. Flock of 6 jakes, one hen on Sunday. Flock of 5 jakes with a hen on Monday. (different farm).
There are two toms that are always together in the trail cam pics, but I haven't heard them calling or seen them strutting.
Very few hens. Does that mean they are already nesting? Spring is about 3 weeks ahead of time up here.
The jake in with a buddy; they broke away from 3 other jakes to my yelps and walked slow but steady to my feeding hen and funky chicken.
Nice. No love for me today. Was seeing a lot of mature Toms during pre-season scouting but only heard a few gobbles since the season opened. Might be time for plan B - move farms and if that don't work plan C - go fishing.
Nice pic of the jake with the early morning sun! Congratulations!
I haven't seen many jakes yet but so far have only hunted the one property this season.

ive seen 15 jakes and 2 toms and 2 hens so far. the miss' and i shot a jake each so far.
I'm not seeing much of anything. Saw a lot of birds locally in January.
Don't these birds realise we are in the middle of a pandemic and have no business leaving there home locations.
