Has anyone noticed maybe your area will be different. But wild apple and pears are just loaded with blossoms right now to me means small fruit and bit latter than normal too
But I haven’t had a tick yet this year dog or human a lot of midge flies tho
Heavy fruit they say leads to a tough year, we shall see. It is already dry around here.
Isn't it the other way around...after a bad year the trees bear heavy the next season ?Quote:

Trees do what trees do. I believe a moisture laden spring will cause more blossoms.
The one "forecast" I have noticed that seems to ring true is when trees are overloaded with fruit you can expect a severe winter.

My pear tree had less blossoms this year, the apple trees about the same.
A couple of crab apple trees.
I had to take the torch to the first one today as there was already a fair sized caterpillar tent on it.

I had banner crops from my three apple trees last year to the point I had to prune out many small apples so branches could support the weight. That usually means a down year after and sure enough my flower production so far is pitiful, even on the Dolgo crab. Golden Delicious hasn't started yet but should be soon as I picked flowering seasons to overlap.
I live in the country and I'm seeing lots of blossoms driving the roads this year but not so much the 'wild" apple trees I've driven past for decades. Flowering crabs in town are looking real good. I know of a large mature Dolgo on a main street in a local town that I've picked before to make jelly and when I was in town the other day I made a point to give it a good look as I drove by and it was real light on flowers too. I know of another large one in another close town that I'll check next time I'm there, if it's the same then that confirms to me it's species specific, around here anyway.
So isn't just my yard. I thought the very late budding, flowering and leaf development on my apple and pear trees may have been due to a late pruning I did this year. Did a late prune in the spring instead of mid winter. The fruit tree development is very late this year.
Time will tell on the end of season results.

Heavy blossoms
My lilac bushes are flowering heavier then I have ever seen this year, the scent is almost overpowering. On a bright note, this sense of smell probably means I'm covid negative.

Lots of blossoms on our fruit trees. The spring has not been particularly wet though. Runoff ponds are very low.
Lots of blossoms on my trees. My honey bees are busy, working the trees. This nice warm spell , will let them get the pollenating done. Think this has a big influence on fruit crops. Last year I had a lot more hives, we had a bumper crop of all fruit. Time will tell. old243
