One politician arrested. That's a start.
So if you are the leader of a political party, you should have an exemption from being arrested when you go out of the way to break the law. How nice. This guy is attempting to sell himself and his party, and he is out for publicity. How is he liable to govern a country if he can't think of better ways to advertises his leadership capabilities, other than by breaking the law. What on earth could he be think of.

He got exactly what he wanted, he's been aiming to be arrested for some time. Now he can kick and scream in attempts to garner a larger following.

Just maybe he is simply defending our rights and freedom.
It is not always self serving. There are a few honest politicians out there willing to take a stand on our behalf.
Actually I’d give Max points for defending our rights and freedom in the platform his party set out during the last election campaign. Unfortunate too many voters saw other political leaders or platforms more too their liking. That said, his recent efforts to defend our rights and freedom, come up hollow, when he chooses to break the law to do so. Granted he has an up hill build to give his party enough prominence to garner votes. Setting himself up as a law breaking revolutionary, goes to character and may not be the best approach.

Unjust and arbitrary laws contrary to the charter need to be challenged. Civil disobedience is a legitimate form of protest and if it results in arrest so be it. An arrest of a politician over this could be the wake up call many need. This does not go against his character in my opinion, it shows he actually has a spine and is willing to stand up for something.
I am not going to equate Max to Mandela, Ghandi or King but how did those men bring about change in their societies? Through civil disobedience, peacefully breaking unjust laws and suffering the consequences.
Depending on how this plays out, he probably has my vote. Before someone goes on about splitting the conservative vote, there is always a reason to not split the conservative vote. Right now it is to get rid of Trudeau ok, lets say we get a Conservative minority, then it will be don't split the vote we need a majority. After a majority it will be, don't split the vote we need to keep the majority. When does the time come to make the change?
The fearless leader Maxine. The same guy who was forced to quit Cabinet in the Harper government because he left classified secret documents at his girlfriend’s apartment back in 2008. Maxine for PM, and Randy Hillier for Premier. Two of the great minds in Canadian politics right there.
Max is an attention seeker and is getting the attention he craves.
This is rich...he was arrested to prevent him from continuation of an offence....his lawyer will have a field day with that in court HaHa.
Quote:
"Mr. Bernier knew of the health orders and has already received a ticket. The continuation of the offence of violating the current public health orders in Manitoba has resulted in his arrest," said Manitoba RCMP spokesperson Tara Seel.
"He is charged under the Public Health Act with Contravening a Provision of the Act for assembling in a gathering at an outdoor public place and for failing to self-isolate in accordance with the Order upon arrival in Manitoba. Under the Provincial Offences Act of Manitoba, he was arrested to prevent the continuation of an offence."
I don't think Pierre gives O'toole a thumbs up, only for the cameras.
Otoole said he'd repeal all new liberal gun legislation, he said he'd repeal the carbon tax. How's that shaping up?
Do you actually believe O'toole will repeal all firearms legislation?..LOL
Otoole has killed his credibility with his 360 on the carbon tax. Many who supported him, no longer trust him.
When Max exited the Conservative party, he took the values and leadership of the Conservatives with him.
This hero owns title of seeking attention..lol

Good god, that waste of skin he should be removed from office for those actions alone. My what our country has sunk too, to elect someone as inept and incompetent as that fool to be the pm of our country it speaks volumes of just how many screwed up people we have in this country to vote a loser of his statue into office. Poor Canada.
Truth in this:

max got arrested for that? didnt trudeau attend a public gathering in london this past week also? no arrest there, just love from the media.. now hes at a large gathering in the UK at the G7...
All good points and as I said...Max's lawyer will have a field day taking this to court.
Dare say, good publicity just before an Election..hero of the people.
I am confused, when is it okay and not okay to protest and ignore COVID laws/rules?
It seems that the law is being arbitrarily applied? Because I see cops sitting by on a few protests, people not physically distancing, and the cops not doing anything ...
I'm very confused.
Are they like afraid to apply the law in some cases? What is it exactly?
Would I dare say that most anti mask protesters would likely vote conservative? Protesting against Ford? Government telling them what to do. Sorry just did. They don’t seem to be arrested for their mass gatherings. Applied equality to whom? Decided by political allegiances? Doesn’t seem so. The ‘people ‘ vs the elites? Who exactly has ever been arrested?
First , he is not 'my' Trudeau. I dislike the man. He is following the rules as set out for the meeting. The same as every other attendee . Are they all more immune? Are you picking on him more than Chancellor Merkel , and the other 5 leaders? Get a grip.
Yes and no. You ' don't care about others', .......says it all. Do you think voters in Germany are talking about Merkel's mask, in the U.S. ,Biden's ? Please get a grip, your just looking for, 'something'.....
The violation of our charter of rights and freedom is not due to political affiliation of being a conservative, liberal or NDP which are all equally and deeply corrupt.
Its is a battle that is raging between We The People and the Global Elites. Good vs Evil
Most of us simply do not endorse their Global Reset and 2030 Agenda.
That is why we are now looking at and endorsing representatives that will truly have our best interest at heart.
Simple as that!
Unlikely. The anti-mask weirdos seem to be drawn to the extreme kookiness of the PPC, Libertarians, Christian Heritage and other fringe parties.
The anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, anti-lockdown reactionaries don't represent Ontario's mainstream. Their biggest protest was a couple of thousand people at Queens Park. Meanwhile almost 10 million people in Ontario and counting have received the COVID vaccine. The people have spoken. Game, set and match.
You're apparently oblivious as to what is happing in Rural Ontario...very few people support the Government Covid restrictions, on either side of the political spectrum. As Impact has stated; "The violation of our charter of rights and freedom is not due to political affiliation".
Don't confuse compliance with acceptance.
That’s like saying some people still wear their bike helmets while not riding. You only have to follow the law when it is a law. If you do you are compliant.
The intelligent people ask questions as to why we are not fully open.
The Globalists will continue to spew their rhetoric until told to stand down (or their pay cheque is cut off)
Take Israel as an example.
"June 15, 2021
Israel will no longer require people to wear masks indoors, removing one of the country’s last remaining coronavirus restrictions as infections continue to decline there, Israel’s health ministry announced on Tuesday."
"The decision comes only about two weeks after Israel lifted capacity restrictions and retired its Green Pass System, allowing vaccinated and unvaccinated people equal access to cultural and economic activities."
"The campaign resulted in a steep decline in confirmed cases from a peak of a seven-day average of more than 8,500 a day in January, to a dozen or so now, according to Our World in Data. More than 63 percent of the population had received at least one shot of the vaccine, Our World in Data said. (Vaccines are available to people 12 and older.)"
"In Rehovot, a city in central Israel, some residents had ignored the mask mandate, dangling masks under their chins, long before Mr. Levi’s announcement. Masks appeared even rarer after the mandate ended on Tuesday."
"Israel is in a moment of political fragility after a coalition government narrowly replaced Benjamin Netanyahu, the country’s longest-serving leader, from the conservative Likud party, with Naftali Bennett, a hard-right prime minister."

Would I dare say that most free-loaders, who have no intention of working, and just want to suck off us taxpayers are Liberals?
Why did I say that? Because, let's flip this around ... did that above statement just sound insulting to all Liberals? Probably.
So, just because a small fraction of conservatives may vote Conservatives ... you insult the entire body of Conservatives by trying
to draw this as a Conservative-characteristic ... which is wrong. Most conservatives I know are in line getting their vaccine, and can't wait
to get back to normal! So, stop with these prejudice ascertains.
I would say the majority of Liberals are free loaders.
I disagree. I think it's hard to gauge because so many people are bullied into compliance, and fear being 'cancelled' etc. so they just stand in line with masks on OUTSIDE in the June heat lol. Go science!
And there is nothing weird about questioning the efficacy of masks, which many doctors have done also. Questioning an experimental vaccine for a virus with a 99% survival rate doesn't make you an anti-vaxxer, but refusing to think does make you an anti-thinker I suppose.
Many people have received the vaccine because it has such a push from the media/politicians, etc. and they keep lowering the age. They are desperate precisely because there has been such a critical stance against it.
Trudeau has never cared about rules or the laws ... he just goes with the flow.
Wears what everyone wants him to wear, says what everyone would like for him to say, does what everyone (in the moment) wants him to do.
He has no values ... he's a chameleon ... he just does whatever is necessary to appease people. Meanwhile behind closed doors, he invites criminals to government events, is a male chauvinist, and breaks any law he chooses to for his own gain.
Max attends a gathering that is politically inconvenient for the government - arrested
Trudeau attends a vigil in London that is politically attractive for “progressives” and he’s worshipped (I am not detracting from that terrible violence)
gatherings are allowed when they fit an agenda that some find appropriate....like tearing down Ryerson’s statue. Go tear down a statue of a “progressive” leader and see what happens.
Also, many people have a 24/7 vigil with an open fire around a Sir John A statue with no problem, 2 peaceful senior veterans in suit jackets and GASP a Canadian flag are threatened with arrest by Kingstons' finest within 5 minutes . I'm surprised the Covid Broadcast Corporation even aired it.
Double standards?????
Convince me otherwise.
John
I find it ironic those who chastise Bernier, who is actually exercising Section 2 of the Charter, apparently, something you are not aware of... for your verbal bashing. Then again, these chastisers are the same people who continue to think the Conservatives are best for gun rights.
Maybe I have to remind you the Provincial EMA's that are enacted, do not supersede the Federal Charter, Section 2, therefore any arrest or ticket you receive will be thrown out in court - because it carries XERO authority. The ticketing and arrests, are purely power tactics of tyrannical government actions...and yet you support it???
Your vote loyalty is counter to owning firearms, and also makes you against firearms ownership for legal law abiding owners. It is this kind of mentality, that just astounds me each time I see it.
Blind loyalty verse actual policy and history. Astounding.

Whether the Charter overrules provincial orders during a pandemic has yet to be proven in a court of law. Those tickets remain in force until proven otherwise. There are also many limitations on "free speech" under Canadian law. Exhorting people to violate public health orders may well be proven to be among them.
More relevant to this thread is that Bernier was not ticketed for anything he said but what he did which was attending a rally contrary to Manitoba public health orders. While Section 2 has provisions for "peaceful assembly" and "freedom of association" whether violating a public health order falls into that category is something for the courts to decide. So far Charter decisions that have made it to the courts have not fared well.
Bad laws were made to be challenged.
The people who created them will ultimately pay a price for doing so.
