I'm no doctor but I think I have said all that lol. Same can be said for who needs the vaccines we don't need to experiment with the mass population just a small percentage of the population to save the majority .

That said, he is extremely wrong about the timing/knowledge of just who exactly was at risk.

In Feb and March 2020. Italian and Portuguese Drs were having to make hard choices about who to intubate and who not…have we all forgotten those days? If I recall there were even a couple threads about it. Certainly viral videos of Drs in tears because they had to make the call to let someone fairly young die, so they could intubate a 30-40 year old.
By April, Canadian medical ethicist were talking about plans. Who lives. Who dies.
Based on age. British Columbia was the first to publish their criteria. I think It was May, might have been April. Either way, if a lowly civil servant knew in Feb it would only be the elderly…
why were medical ethicist making plans, the public talking about the morality, and so Drs wouldn’t be left to make the hard call…
But I suppose that’s why he’s not an expert, but a civil servant whose memory isnt that good, and like way too many blowing things out of porportion.

On the topic of what might have been done. There are all kinds of options. I “argued” last spring we should have jacked taxes. I got grief for that…Today, we have about 500b in new debt and inflation is going to kill of what’s left of the peons, and potentially set off a chain reaction that could nuke everyone. Though I don’t think the BoC will risk it. “Too big to fail”….
I also argued last spring, especially given the $$ we were spending. We should have built small cities for the at risk. Utilized army bases/airports. And while they would be locked up ( not a fan of licking anyone up like the gestapo or Chinese) they’d at least have limited freedom/mobility, dignity.
and yes, hindsight is 2020 (2020 double entendres intended).
The pandemic should of been over when dr Williams was caught on the hot mic with his little side puppy, asking why they have all this paperwork that they don't even look at. They just say what they are told to say.
Our top doctor just saying what he is told to wtf . Not being a doctor not being on the front line just sitting at a desk and saying what he is told to say. That's just a crock of shot.

Globalization does have a price tag, yes, it has many economic wealth generating possibilities, the joker in the deck is the frontiers that use to be localized pockets of disease now have a door way to the world and the over expansion of international travel has open a freeway for them to be transported. What is truly lacking are check points to stop or impeded their spread. If this current pandemic has taught us anything, there is really a need to be put in place a means of monitoring the entry point into this country, to prevent the entrance of unfamiliar diseases. The word in that last sentence that is the kicker is “unfamiliar” medical training may need to get up to speeds on what is globally out there and how to best isolate and best treat such diseases. Nobody should be entering this country without a thorough medical going over and clearance. I have a suspicion the current COVID-19 virus probably land in another country and unimpeded drove or walked across our border from that country. That doesn’t discount air travel, we now known there are way to get around direct air travel from country to country by going through an non restricted country. .Quote:

A number of years back it was explain to me that the medical profession works a grid, if you have a problem that falls on the grid, then they swing to action and operate to correct the problem, if operating will alleviate it. If what you have doesn’t land on the grid, then they prescribe pharmaceuticals to deal with the symptoms. I know this because in my teens I had a problem that didn’t exactly fit on the grid, I had reoccurrences of the symptoms periodically into my late 20's, when a emergency room resident got one of his buddies in another department to run an intravenous pyelogram. His buddy show me the x-rays and said this is what normal looks like, and this is what your problem looks like. They eventually determine I had weakness in a conduction vessel, and did surgery to reinforce the wall with a shunt. Problem solved after 10 to 15 years.
