After 9 amazing seasons, Whisky suddenly began acting lethargic and today we watched her slip away as we stroked her velvety ears. She's buried near where we got this, her first woodcock.

Hopefully you'll be left with a lot of fine memories of her to carry you through your loss... It's a hard pill to swallow as anyone will tell you that has owned a hunting companion and close friend. Sorry for your loss... That's a great photo of her...

My condolences. The loss will be felt for a long time however the memories will soften the hurt.

Sorry to hear she was a good looking pup
My condolences Derek. Only thing dogs don’t do for us is live long enough.
What a great photo. Awesome memories will help you get through it but also makes it hard to swallow at the end of the day. Sorry for your loss.

Rest in peace .

So sorry to hear this. She was a beautiful dog. Memories will last a life time. As Jim said, get another puppy right away, if there is room in your heart. Some times it doesn't feel possible, but once in your house, a puppy will help the healing.
Sorry for your loss, my condolences to you and your family.
Never easy to lose a dog . Sorry.
Sorry for your loss
I know that feeling. I morned over my black lab girl for several weeks and it still stings! :(
They are like family members....I feel bad for everyone that loses a dog
I think we take it worse than the loss of a human family member because we have appropriate ways to grieve the loss of a human, but we don't have any suitable ways to grieve the loss of our faithful four legged companions. So we wind up feeling a confused version of crummy for longer than we'd like. It's the pits.
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
