God bless our brothers and sister to the south. 20 years today a horrific and tragic event happened that will never be forgotten. As always Americans show their pride ingenuity and strength to rise above the ashes to show the great country they are and I'm immensely proud to have them as a friend, neighbor and ally. God bless America.

I remember what I done that day. There was a rumor flying through work that the twin towers had been hit and honestly I didn't believe it initially at lunch I went home to turn on the TV to see those tragic events in history unfold and think what a great loss of life that happened that day.
Terrorists hijacked planes, thousand died. Two hit the twin towers, one the Pentagon and one plane crashed in a field when the passengers fought back.
I remember the uncertainty, the banning of flights and so many planes landed on the east coat, stories on the radio of up to a dozen planes unaccounted for, wondering if a good friend was there (he was supposed to be, they changed places for the meetings), an entire company glued to watching the news live on one of the office computers. I remember pictures of the Palestinians dancing and handing out candy and other countries where mass murder was celebrated and cheered.... Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, 9/11... so many things to remember that many want to ignore or hide.

I'd still rather be Canadian.
That was the moment in my life that awakened me to world events.
I was in grade 9 and heard it announced over the PA but had no idea what the world trade center even was.
I was working at JDS Uniphase in Ottawa.
I was running a highway reconstruction job on the 402 halfway between London & Sarnia, the traffic was backed up almost to us and the MTO guys had told us there were fighter jets circling the border crossing and guarding the Bluewater Bridge. Quite a day/week/month/year…

To tell you the truth Joe...the only 'real ' difference for me would be the weather. As I get older the thoughts of the impending winter ahead has got me wishing I lived down south in a more civilized climate. As else aside, there really is no difference in a mans day to day life no matter where they live.. the shows on TV are all the same. :)Quote:

I was in grade 11 electrical class. It came over the PA what had happened. I didnt understand then what the WTC was, but I sure as hell knew what the Pentagon was I can remember saying "someone just declared war on the US".
I can distinctly remember my math teacher saying "This isnt important, pay attention to algebra" while the rest of my teachers understandably didnt even bother trying to teach anything and instead let us follow along through the internet and radio.

was in high-school that day, convinced a couple class mates to skip the class after lunch. we were hanging out in the library when everyone rushed in cause there were TVs there ... unbelievable. RIP to all the lost souls.
