First semi auto shotgun

Well today was the day i bought my first semi auto shotgun.

when on basspros website i ran into this semi auto shotgun that had a low price point.

A gun made in Turkey for a very reasonable price for a semi.

i was looking around for a small game/ Bird gun, that wouldnt break the bank.

The Girsan MC312

i looked up reviews for 3 days and have not run into anyone who had anything bad to say about the firearm at all. picked it up today went home and WOW!

am i ever pleased with this.

granted theres like a whole bottle of oil in the thing right now but the action is super smooth feels great shouldered now just to shoot it LOL.

came in mossy oak camo, and with 5 chokes!! paid 620$ tax in with 2 boxes of turkey loads.

Turkey produces great shotguns.
I had a Armsan, it was a great gun, never had any problems.

Congratulations, love the autos


You’ll get different opinions on this but mine would be to strip it down, get all the oil off of its parts then reassemble dry and don’t use any lubricants on the guns action or inner workings. Just become familiar with how to strip it down, keep it very clean and dry.

Autoloaders and lubricants don’t mix IMO

Ya generally but I'd defer to the manual enclosed. It should give you good instructions on maintenance. I believe a dirty/ poorly maintained autoloader is the source of most problems.

Totally depends on the autoloader.

A gas gun needs lubrication, and an inertia gun needs less but generally still some on the rails. The Girsan is an inertia shotgun.

My dad has a 1187 remington. Strips it down and cleans it maybe once a season hes had the gun since he was about 16 or 17 (52 now) hasnt had any issues.

Gunna go up this morning and see what happens worst comes to worst I strip it down in the field and clean her up a bit no big deal.

The only "jam" I've ever had with my inertia guns was caused by not pulling the stock tight into my shoulder when wearing winter clothing, the spent hull wouldn't clear the receiver on the way out. It only happened with 3-1/2" shells. I only strip mine down at the end of the season. Just a bore snake and a bit of lube on the rails after hunting.

All depends on how much you're shooting in a waterfowl season.

If you're like me and you shoot 1000+ rounds in the Fall at ducks and geese, you're gonna need to clean your guns more than once! Usually I start to notice things slowing down from being dirty once the sub zero temps set in.

Too much of a good thing is not good. Guns love oil but just the right amount is what we're after. Semi-auto's require more cleaning than say a pump action especially if it's gas operated.

Well was up the last 2 days, this gun is awesome. No cleaning or anything right out the box shot straight as a arrow didnt jam once. Very impressed, great purchase from my point of view ! Cycled everything that I put in it. Without a issue.

Nice gun........shoot it as often as you can and it will become an extension of your arm!

I shot one and was really impressed with the fit and finish of the gun. Functioned and fit me like a Benelli SBE at less than 1/3 the price ! The only negative I can say is the recoil was excessive, compared to other semis I've shot. It was on par with a Stoeger 2000 for kick when using premium waterfowl loads. I imagine it would not be a fun gun to shoot turkey loads through. Not a good gun if you're recoil shy. I imagine it would be better if you added an after market recoil pad.

fair enough, the recoil does kick pretty hard. was thinking of looking at some after market pads actually. thanks for the suggestion!
