3 words and a little story: Monoclonal Antibodies, Ivermectin.

Thanks for posting a great example of yet another ridiculous article. Loved the fancy infographic showing the various stages of their response to the pandemic, which have quite obviously done nothing to curb predictable seasonal waves. Look at number 9, "mask mandate returns", not even a dip in the trajectory.
This isn't the first time Alberta has been in the news for being caught off guard by huge "case spikes", yet by their own graph this wave was quite easily predictable. They still only have 287 ICU beds in the whole province. That is the issue and just about the only point in the article worth noting.
It's September in Alberta, that's why people are getting sick. No need for the political blame game. I was in Calgary in September of 2019 and my flight home was hampered by a snowstorm.
Usually I wouldn't get much past the headline of that article, and admittedly I couldn't read all of it. I quit reading at "vaccine passports have an impact", as noted by the increase in vaccine uptake after the announcement. That's the impact that is desired? We've been told it's to create more "safe indoor spaces". More vaccine uptake doesn't mean those coerced people are going to use those spaces, it means they just pressured more people into an experiment.

Trump got treatment back on the road in a week.
Kristy alley was treated with the same and Joe Rogan was working out 4 days later back on set within the week. .

I would think any treatment would be than none.

Allelulya we've got a cure...just need to print off calendars without the month of Sept.
Almost as good as covid virus is a parasite thats why Iver' should work
Reality virus spreads through close proximity to one who's infected. Most people try to get away going the least that is asked of them
I believe if everyone did above and beyond whats asked we would be in the clear. If 6 ft is asked give 12, if group size is 20 do 10 if masks are request use a shield too. If 2 shots are recommended beg for 4
In any case remember It's September here too
You're not still using the glory whole too are you?

Climate here doesn't work the same as in Alberta, especially humidity. If you haven't been keeping up to date mankind is trying to hold back and vaccinate against a new cold virus. It hasn't worked in the past, it won't work now. As for the Ivermectin comment, I see you still have a lot of homework to do so post up something that actually refutes what I said from pre-2019 and we can discuss it further. I imagine you haven't looked past horse dewormer.
Alberta didn't properly prepare for a fall wave of illness that was inevitable and have fired up the blamethrower.
And by the way, it's an airborne virus, 6 ft, 12 ft, doesn't matter. Walk into a bathroom with nobody in it and breathe in the air of someone who was in there before you. It's all it takes. Sorry if that causes you to spend the next 6 months inside...

Speaking of shingles, my Mother recently took the shingles vaccine because my Dad has had a severe case of shingles since his second covid shot. A month and counting now.
Do you know why we need shingles vaccines? Because kids are no longer getting chicken pox as often (due to vaccines) so when adults are exposed to the virus later in life (or have their immune system assaulted by mRNA) they no longer have an immune response to it and they get shingles.
I don't know about you but I'd rather have chicken pox as a kid than shingles.
Another case of just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

Actually that is wrong and you know that. I suggest you research it.
I have. Which part, the side effect or the fact that shingles is more prevalent as a direct result of chickenpox vaccines? Shingles is a documented side effect of the covid shot, here is the rest.

Assuming you mean the shingles then.

As I said in another thread, I'll believe what I see with my own eyes. Shingles from navel down around to his lower back, yes "there". Came up a week after the second dose. I'm sure it's just coincidence and the benefits outweigh the risks....

Well you girls I have to go to bed some of us actually work for living I don't pull CRB like you probably do.
Sour grapes? I've actually collected CERB and CRCB for 10 of the last 17 months but went back to work last week when the kids went back to school. Thought being here for my family was more important than making extra money.
Some of us work shift work, and we work rather than post during working hours.

You guys did a great job with this, I'm sure FFF (the OP) will be happy that he has to lock down his own thread. HaHa...
The relevant question is whether Ontario's retention of some measures, slower reopening and higher vaccination rates help us avoid the same deadly mistakes made in Alberta.
To her credit, even Albert's Chief Medical Officer admits she dropped the ball and Kenney is finally committed to a vaccine passport.

Hinshaw says government knew since mid-August hospital demand would rise without provincial intervention
Bill Macfarlane
Updated Sept. 14, 2021 9:19 p.m. EDT
Published Sept. 14, 2021 8:55 a.m. EDT
CALGARY - In a long address to her medical colleagues Monday night, Alberta's top doctor was candid in laying out what decision makers knew and when.
She said the lifting of virtually all public health restrictions on July 1 was based on a belief that while cases may rise, the severe outcomes would remain low.
"Within a couple of weeks [. . .] we weren't seeing the decoupling we expected,” said Dr. Hinshaw.
“I deeply regret how that has played out. I do continue to do my best every day to provide my advice to the proxy decision makers for my patients, who are the elected officials.”
But as the situation worsened, the government dug in, and stuck to their story that the pandemic was in the past.
As the COVID-19 count climbed in the weeks following Stampede, the story unraveled somewhat.
"By kind of mid-to-late August, we realized this is a significant problem," Hinshaw said. "We (know that we) need to pull back and we're still in that process (now).”
Since then, the province reintroduced a mask requirement for indoor spaces and has halted liquor sales after 10 p.m. with some exceptions.
Former Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. James Talbot said he wouldn't criticize Hinshaw's performance because he doesn't know what advice she's offered. He said the inaction by the province was especially frustrating as the health care system teeters between crisis and "melt down".
"We were requesting that the (hospitalization) modelling be released. The media was requesting it. There was excuse after excuse (from the province),"Talbot said. "Now we know that the reason they didn't release it was, they knew that it wouldn't be evidence for inaction being a good course."
"We squandered four weeks when we could have been doing something about it. That's the bottom line."
Former Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. James Talbot is one of the authors of a report that warns the Alberta health care system is on the verge of collapse due to a surge in COVID-19-related hospitalizations unless the province takes decisive actions
He said across Canada, there needs to be more independence and job security for the role of top doctor if the public is to have trust that their safety is being put first.
"The degree of independence and freedom from arbitrary dismissal that we would like to give them - just to have in the future - so that we don't end up with this confusion about doing what's right for the people versus what's right for government,” Talbot said.
"We've seen unfortunately, the government in power, paying attention to a small minded, vocal minority, to the extent that right now the 70 per cent of us who've had two doses of vaccine are really being held hostage by the 30 per cent, who haven't," said Talbot.
MRU political commentator Duane Bratt said for months any expert questioning the government's approach to the pandemic has been publicly attacked by the premier's staffers.
"(Premier Kenney's chief of issues management) Matt Wolf said "the pandemic is over: Deal with it.' Well, the pandemic is not over," said Bratt. "People are dying, more people are going to die.”
"It's the same mistake over and over again," he added, "with attacks on anybody who has questioned their judgment."
"That would be the question asked Shandro. Or Kenney. How many people have to die so that you can keep your party together?” asked Bratt.
Dr. Talbot said the coming weeks will extract a heavy price, particularly from unvaccinated adults, as hospital resources grow thinner by the day.
"COVID is at 1500 cases a day and rising, you can expect to get infected, maybe two weeks from now, maybe four weeks from now, when you get infected," Talbot said.
"If you have serious consequences, and if you need a hospital bed," he added, "you may not get a hospital bed."
You make is sound like a passport is a key to resolving the problem in Alberta...just as most places are now dropping the idea as it's ineffectual. Problem with trying to coerce people with bribes....have to offer something worth abandoning your rights for.
Alberta has almost 75% double-tapped.... promising the remaining hold outs to let them see a movie in exchange for violating their body, is going to be a tough sell.
Noticed a lot of business owners are balking at the idea, and the local police will not sent officers to check passport IDs.
Hasn't been implemented here yet...look farther abroad.
England vaccine passport plans ditched
and why: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-58535258
Quebec has had the passport in place for 2 weeks they are still climbing . Will the passports make cases go down?

Local small resturant here last Sunday had some Karen come in during lunch rush. She called the cops saying over crowded. Of course time cops roll in lunch crowd was over. So that’s likely $300 opp charge to the tax payers
One place. What you said is "most places are dropping the idea" which is not accurate.
Instead of "dropping the idea" provinces that once opposed proof of immunization (Ontario and Alberta) have now now embraced the concept. Proof of immunization for certain non-essential activities is in place or soon will be in every Canadian province except one.
Its not about the passport. If you recall you were applauding the drop of Mask mandates and restriction measures. Now where are they. Hard to get the horses back in the barn when you release them.
Will be harder to get them back on track on more preventive measures so even harsher restrictions required.
Do I really have to make you a list and post them for you ?
Try keeping up on current affairs if you're going to participate in discussions here...
Seriously ...neither of those Premiers are 'embracing' the Vaccine Passport. Both are bowing to pressure. You really much pay more attention to the news.
I'm opposed to any mandates..as are many others and why there are protests in almost every country. Trying to social engineer people into giving up their freedoms is undemocratic and against human rights.
If people know they may die and still refuse to take the vaccine, that's their choice, like smoking drinking, drugs etc etc.
It's illegal to force them to get the vaccine.
As they are laying on their ICU death beds most recant, but it's too late.
"I Disapprove of What You Say (choose), But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It
Post your list of Canadian provinces who "dropped the idea."
Whether the Premiers are embracing or bowing the end result is the same. No shot, no non-essential services in every Canadian province except one at least for now. In the other nine, get jabbed, show a recent negative test (in some situations) or bugger off.
reading comprehension...never said provinces. Not even mandatory in the most provinces yet...
you used the word "embrace"...I would have use coerced...:)
For the most part, the non-essional services ban is very small and easy to forgo or work around.
Everything that was open as 'essential' before remains open to the unwashed..Walmart, Hardware, CT, groceries, pharmacies etc etc..
And the last Canadian provincial hold out has come to its senses.

Mandatory masking, vaccine passports coming to Saskatchewan

Just over two months after dropping all COVID-19 public health measures — and with new and active cases increasing at a high rate — Saskatchewan is bringing back one measure and instituting another.
During a media conference Thursday, Premier Scott Moe said the province will again be making masks mandatory in indoor public spaces as of Friday.
The province also will require proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test to access some businesses, establishments and event venues in the province as of Oct. 1.
When that policy takes effect, the masking mandate is expected to be removed.
As well, all employees of government ministries, Crown corporations and agencies will have to get vaccinated, with proof of full vaccination required by Oct. 1. If they can’t be vaccinated, they’ll have to provide consistent proof of negative tests.
Moe noted the government and the Saskatchewan Health Authority did all they could to get people to get vaccinated, even going door to door in some communities to make the vaccine accessible.
For the premier, the fact that more than 20 per cent of the province’s population has yet to get immunized made Thursday’s announcement necessary.
“We have remained patient as a government and we have exhausted all of these avenues because we know how effective vaccines can be when people choose to take one,” Moe said. “But today that patience has come to an end.
“If you are unvaccinated and living in Saskatchewan, it’s now time to get your shot. The vast majority of Saskatchewan people that have done the right thing, quite frankly they are tired of those that have chosen not to and that is what is now driving the fourth wave in this province.”
Moe defended the timing of the announcement, saying the government and SHA have made decisions based on information they had at that time.
