Been reading about the predicted snow fall for this year.
Lots saying well have alot of rain and just a couple small snow showers at the end of oct/early nov.
Temps are suppose to stay relatively warmer in the first week of nov then dropping later in the month.
Deer hunting with a gun in a t-shirt anyone? LOL
Not to mention sunrise will be around 8am
And sunset at 6pm because the time won't be changing until nov 7th.

Hard to say what weather we are going to have anymore....They are predicting once the cold arrives it is going to stay colder than normal.

Yeh I was thinking about the hunt recently and how warm its been to date. I think the hunt this year will be slow because the good weather allows for access to more food and they will move around a lot less during the day. We have not had a frost to turn things around a bit. The late season bow/muzzleloader hunt holds more promises up my way.
Definitely uncomfortable hunting in warm weather. Processing the meat will need to be done quickly to avoid spoilage. Hopefully late season now/muzzleloader/controlled hunt will be cooler.
Not that uncommon anymore..I'd say 3or 4 out of the past 6-7 first weeks have been 't-shirt' hunts. A few we never even had a fire going in the camp most days.Quote:

Farmers almanacs was saying first significant snowfall for southern Ontario will be Oct 28, right now I'm kind of doubting it....
I was hunting in a t-shirt yesterday while out on the ATV. Flies were out. Didn’t bother the grouse at all.
I got a blackfly in my ear while using a headlamp setting up decoys in the dark. Bugs were SWARMING me with the headlight on, Black fly went inside my ear, Felt like it was sitting on my brain, Most annoying feeling ever.
Drove me nuts, Friggin black flies in the middle of October.
Bring on the snow and -10 lol

Well last year if I'm not mistaken it pooped snow on day 2 I believe? I seen ALOT of action that day. Then all the snow melted and it was pretty warm the rest of the week which was nice.

First week deer hunting at Burks Falls 2019
Yeh first morning was 50k winds and -20 with windchill. Day 2 still had snow but warming up, Was around freezing on Wednesday and last 2 days was warm and sunny.Quote:

I have to agree with that. There's something synonymous about cold snowy days during the deer hunt. I've frozen my patooties many times over the years sitting on a watch. T-shirt and bugs just doesn't seem right?Quote:

It snowed the Sunday before gun season in 82a. A lot of the snow was gone by Monday afternoon and then it was a reasonable temperature for the rest of the week. By muzzleloader season we where on snowshoes in one area I hunt. There is a reason I own a blaze orange t-shirt. There have been some rifle hunts that I’ve broken into a sweat while dogging over the years. I have my fingers crossed for a blast of cold last week of October, but I’m doubtful!Quote:

I'm down in 90B and the temperatures are starting to get "seasonal" now. Guess I can pull my AC units out of the windows ? Less or no rain would be preferred as my woods are way too wet. Rumour has it from Farmers Almanac a big snow in early November ? So long as the bugs disappear I will be happy !
The volume of water in the bush up my way is very high compared to past years, my little lake I am on is up at least 2 feet in recent years and most low lying area's are flooded.Quote:
