My Dad took this picture today South of Egmondville. He said there were several more back in the field along the bush line.

Poor picture quality as it was his phone and he was in the truck. He reported it to the MNR via their phone reporting system.
Terminate with extreme prejudice.
I’d like to shoot one or two, but realistically, the best approach IMO would be to round them up ASAP before they get spooky. If they just got out, wouldn’t it be more effective to get them coming to feed and trap them in an enclosure?
Good luck trapping them all in one shot.

The MNR has no funding....so until they start to destroy agriculture crops and another dept of the Government kicks in funds, the boars will continue to establish themselves. Doing nothing...never solved the problem in the past, recommending we do nothing because it 'might' spread them around is poor management.
Putting a substantial bounty on them will see more results than watching the grow stronger.
I was visiting family two days ago and a wild hog was in one of their front yards, this was in Cedar Springs just north of Dundas Street in Burlington.
Mind you I had a full grown fox in my back yard in central Mississauga a week ago sniffing around where the dog goes. This think left by jumping the 5 foot fence like a cat and walking along the 2x4 rail all the way down the yards. No wonder the bunnies are going missing around here.

The idea of trapping them is to have them come into a feeder, once the whole sounder is in drop a large steel trap to get them all at one time. I have seen some videos, would work wonders if the population is small and concentrated. But with all the reports over the last few weeks it is probably already too late. I thought it was something like three litters a year.

One old guy from the back row(who was kept to be a member of the assembly due of his actual knowledge of farming pigs-someone needed to get the job done for them at the end) dared to ask THE question:
Did You comrades talked to the pigs, and made an agreement with them sows in these fertility numbers???
The sows happened to have an average of 10 piglets in the future. Since there was the agreement of exporting 10 pigs to USSR, they were left with NO pigs to eat!
The population will expand exponentially through the natural process over time. This is happening in New York state where the no hunting position has been established for the last four years. It's turning out to be a dismal failure and people are ripping politicians new butt holes. The OMNRF don't have the budget to put gas in their vehicles let alone finance dozens of teams to trap the animals in large enough numbers to prevent their spread. I can hear the whining and boo-hooing already. Wait for it.

Update: Someone called my parents back and emailed them a chart of several types of pigs. Apparently they were somewhat fixated on identifying the type of pig seen. Dad sent them pictures and said he had no idea really what specific hog he saw, but did say he saw them again a couple days later in the exact same field....
Took a drive by yesterday and saw them back near the bush, judging by the hay piled up and the fact that there is feeders set up some one has put them there, not wild or escaped. I didn't see any fences though so assume they think they will stay near the feed source and not roam?
Dad said the same thing. Wierd that there are clearly no fences. Do you think they are escapees and they are conditioning them to feed in hopes of corralling them? Seems awfully irresponsible to let them run free in a corn field.Quote:

I'll bet the farmers would feel a whole lot different if the entire cost of escapes and environmental damage is downloaded to them. It could get so high as to make the $200/head offer look damn good in 20/20 hindsight.
I’ve heard local rumours that a disgruntled farmer dumped them as a result of the info detailed in that article, but I have no proof whatsoever to back that up.

Both the bear and the pigs crossed virtually in the same spot about 25 yds past the stop sign...
