How did your ice fishing season go? Get out much and how did you do on your target species
dam I think I've gotten old.
First season never made it out once.
Too snowy
Too windy
too old
:ashamed:
I was out enough.
Very cold, lots of snow and heavy winds with lots of ice.
Slush didn’t last long.
I think it was the first time in my life that I fished twice with a full face helmet on all day. Brrrrr.
Did ok for trout but no hogs. (Missed a nice one) Ate lots of fish.
And it isn’t over!
I had no free time in January, then February brought cold temperatures, and deep snow. More snow and slush in March. So no ice fishing yet for me. Our walleye season closes on April 14th so I’m hoping to get out before then… just waiting for ice conditions to improve.
I really wanted to try ice camping this year and bought some new gear including a new pop up shack and underwater camera. Who knows, it might happen yet.
2nd season out for me. Was able to get out a few times, land a few on the ice and even got the GF to come along!
She said she's more excited for next year when I'll have my truck back aka the atv transport to save walking out with sleds
I was out 3 times for lakers and white fish did well with lakers but not many whities this year.
First in a long time with lots of slush but still well worth the outings going back out this weekend
Lots of ice on simcoe this year, was a great year overall.
Watched alot of whitefish, but did not ice any unfortunately ... Ice fishing for me is like boat fishing, I just love spending time out there with friends or my gf ... catching a white fish is just the bonus. We release all perch or trout we catch .. although the laker smell will stay with my gear for a while I think.
oh and I got engaged while ice fishing .... lol target species check
Only made it out to NIp for a few days on the closer. Was a good trip. Actually going to Abitibi this weekend to chase some late season eyes. Have not been there in a dogs age (1986 last time). Been thinking about it for a few seasons. Going solo so i hope the slush is manageable. Gonna get the truck and trailer as close as possible and than sled from there. Plan on camping/sleeping in the snowmobile trailer - no heat but i have good gear.
Good luck to all you lucky folks that still have ice. Down here our ice has been gone for over 2 weeks now.
Be safe
Never got out only had 6 days off from the start of the season to the end
Abitibi bound right now.
I had an average winter with the whitties seems simcoe is in a change again. Places that have pretty steady for whitties the last 6 years has turned into perch again, some perch spots are seeing more whitties. I fished an area that usually holds good size perch nothing much this year and can catch just as many whitties as perch. Went pike fishing a few days something I haven't done on the ice in almost 15 years lol. Missed 2 pike also landed 2 nice Lakers early in the season and made an epic save with a friend's trout that snapped off in the hole lol.
I think Monday will be my last day on the ice heading North for a last day

How was the perch fishing on Simcoe this winter? We usually make a trip up and have done well but this year we went to Nipissing and dang near froze.
We caught some walleye in the overnight huts but couldn't venture out because our ATV'S wouldn't start
My wife and I spent more time ice this year than any other. We hit simcoe in January going for perch. Was pretty good action most of the time. Smaller fish. Took a long weekend for super bowl in north bay. Fished Deepwater point during the day and staying in north bay. Wife wanted to see the game. Did ok for the first two day and the third day the fish just shut down. 30ish wallys for the trip and herring, pike, perch and a smallmouth. Back to simcoe one trip for whitefish and got one. I'm not a tip up guy. I like playing with fish. Saved the best for last. Last ice with South shore. 8 man hut with my wife. I fished from 5ish in the morning till after 10pm. Lots of smaller walleye just under the slot. Maybe 20 a day plus the normal others. Lots of drinks and smoke in the air. Sorry to see it go but the canoe and back lakes are calling.

Back on the grid after 2 days in Abitibi. Walleye limit both days and about a million mooneyes. Will post up report tomorrow.
Looking forward to your report
