My 10 year old lab has most symptoms for a yeast infection. Itchy rear end, chin, paws and ears. Have been to the vet and they prescribed some chlorhexidine spray. Did not seem to work. Wondering if anyone has had the same problem with yeast and their dog. If so, what did you do or supplement used to correct the problem? Has anyone fed an over the counter anti-yeast pill that women use for their dog? Any advice would be appreciated.
My lab goes on ears drops and prednizone(sic) every year for red itchy ears and paws.
Takes a few days to work and hes fine for the rest of the season.
our lab had that in paws and mouth area, apparently it was his food we switched it and no more issues
For the ears ——- one of my previous dogs had 5 ear infections before she was 18 months. Someone suggested Zymox. Treatment for one week cleared it and then we proactively used it once per month after that. Never had another infection after that. I (and now my breeder too) swear by it

If you don't mind me asking warningshot what food did you switch to? Do you think it was a grain problem or chicken allergy?
vet said it was a chicken allergy, they would get a rustly colour in the toes and creese of mouth , we fed our both dogs a lab and american bulldog iams , we switched and tried a few brands performitrin, pc dog food costco and a couple other but ended up with purina pro plan lamb and rice

Are you sure it's not an allergic reaction?
my senior lab ate chicken based kibble for years and one day at the age of 5 he was allergic. since switching his food he has had way less ear problems and no itchy paws or snout

My lab (now 2) seem to have the ear problem as well.
Went to vet, they gave a course of antibiotics and ear drops. Didn't help
When he was a small pup he was on raw diet. It was quite expensive, so had to switch to Costco brand (problem appeared a few months after). I am process of switch to holistic dry food now. Fingers crossed it will help

my lab now 2.5yr had red ears and scratching and licking paws, vet gave drops would work then month after drops gone it came back. Switch the salmon and sweet potatoes from costco and no more ear problems, still licks paws a bit, but not enough to cause a problem.
