Why not, use it for activities like that makes sense. I use my cargo trailer to haul my ATV to the hunt site and then pop up the cot/mattress and sleeping bag. Small genny for an electric heater and bar fridge/freezer.
I made a post about my parents going on a big road trip. Ever since they got the towable rv they went camping alot more than usual and they went on a crazy road trip to Yellowstone. It is very much easier than having ti set up a tent tarps unpack your whole truck etc.

wow nice hunting camp for sure. I could glamp and hunt very easily with that, the wife may even want to come once in a while.
We used to have a Starcraft hard top camper that saw a lot of hunts over the years. It slept 5 guys very comfortably and the other guys rigged their truck beds to sleep in. We did 90% of the cooking and eating outside in a classic tarp camp. With a rippin' campfire going almost continually, even in really crappy weather,we were all warm and dry. Great memories............
Sounds wayyy to primitive for a liberal guy like me from Toronto. LOL
But seriously back in the day most of the camps were pretty make shift like this and were lots of fun because the guys were a different breed.
I am not to sure about this making a bed in the back of a pickup truck we had the camp boss try that one year on a Moose hunt and he literally froze his a-- of the first night. In the meantime I was in a tent with a small propane heater nice and warm and cosy, yes I am still alive so it was well vented.
There's a trick to truck box bunking. Most people like to use air matresses because they smooth out the ridges on the bottom of the box. Truck steel combined with air in the mattress conducts and transfers cold better than a refrigerator. Placing a piece of carpet underlay over the air mattress and rolling a cold weather sleeping bag over provides unparalled insulation and toasty warmth on the coldest nights.
I do the truck cap camping, started with just a cot with a foam mattress, Now graduated to a plywood bed with foam mattress. I sleep in it almost every weekend from June to November. This late I bring the buddy heater just to take the chill off in the morning getting dressed. 0 degree sleeping bag and a couple blankets does the job though.
Know a couple where the husband convinced the wife to take the RV on the yearly moose hunt explained as the guys are older now they need something more comfortable to rest in after the hunt. Well when he got back and the wife saw the state of the RV well lets just say that was the end of that.
Most RV’s are loosely constructed so don’t stand up very well to abuse. If you use an RV, you have to be anal about treating the unit with kid gloves. I’ve been using my travel trailer (my wife’s home away from home) for a few years now without any negative impacts. This year, we plan to set up a supplemental tent with a woodstove to dry our clothing and leave our dirty gear.
I prefer camper vans because they are easier to park and drive, are more efficient, and if you do it right you can buy an empty cargo van or minimal DIY van conversion and slowly convert only what you actually need. Only converting and putting in money into quality parts that won't break and you know how they work in case they do. RVs are built with poor build quality, are shanty as hell. Completely obvious, and anywhere they're parked they're an eyesore and draw attention. Many many dispersed sites (free) out there have low clearance, and high clearance requirements, meaning you may have to dodge branches and go over rough terrain. The more adaptable you are, the more freedom you get in terms of where you can park. If you're fine, posting up 5 ft away from another person in an RV park then an RV is perfectly fine for what you want to do.
