Second day 8 pointer!!
So, the week leading up to bow opener I started getting pics of an 8 pointer coming through a point off a soybean field around 6pm every night.
I went in on opening day evening sit and wind switched half way through the hunt. I heard him in the thick stuff grunt but knew I was in there and didn’t come out. An hour after I left I had him show up on cam. ( of course )
that night we had a cold Front come through and I thought I may catch him moving because of the cold
i was right! Right around 7am I caught a black silhouette come from my left off the field around the corner of the point I was in. He came in to about 10 yards and fed on some apples behind a big bush. I couldn’t see his body but he also couldn’t see me. He fed for about 10 minutes and looked to turn and walk back into the thick bedding area.
he decided to turn and go right down a trail and I found a quick opening clear of brush. As he took his committing step into the opening I let it fly!
smoked him! Knew I made a good shot and watched him jet off. I went down and found my arrow. Was covered. Found blood immediately and went back to my stand and sat and let him go for 20 minutes.
he ran about 60-70 yards through all kinds of thick stuff so seemed further but I found him!
A great 8 point, my biggest with bow, and earliest I ever got one.
