Muzzle Loader Controlled Hunt
Well, another muzzle loader controlled hunt has come and gone, and we managed to get all 9 tags filled, although it took us until Saturday morning to get it done. Buck movement seemed really slow for most of the hunt, which I partially attribute to the warm sunny weather, and the bright, full moon nights. There was no shortage of does though, and we ended up taking more of them than bucks, which was a first. One morning I had a group of 7 does and fawns wander by within 30 yards. They milled in the field in front of me, and I was certain there had to be a buck not far behind, given how many does there were. After a few minutes of watching them, I decided to take a doe that didn't have a fawn with it. There was also a doe with a set of twins that seemed quite small for the time of year. They kept trying to nurse while she was eating, and she would kick them away with her back leg to get them to stop. Forgot to get a picture until we started to process them.
