so got a 2015 ish? Jeep wrangler notice when switching to warm no hot air coming out of vents. Took it to the dealer and they told me got to replace the whole system $2000. Pretty sure its just the blend door [COLOR=#111111]actuator that needs replacing. What appears a simple though far too tedious a repair for me to try. So if you think can help me out for a cash job let me know.
Just asking the obvious, did you check the coolant level?
yup level good. Pipes leading into both hot to touch. Seems there are no more mechanics out there just part replacers. Hook it up to the computer see what it says and replace part. They already changed out the thermostat which made no difference.

theres a mechanic at keele and langstaff my dads been going to for quite a while, called H auto i think. kinda just gotta show up and see if hes busy or not, just him working, older gent.

This is a fairly common problem with Chrysler vehicles, my girlfriend's RAM has the same issue and her dad blew out the heater box with an air compressor and super cleaned it and the door started moving again. I wasn't interested in pulling the dash to fix it so was happy this worked.
So in conclusion.
Went to a canadian tire and asked the shop how much to change out a vent door actuator. Guy responded "It's a $125 service charge" my reply " great answer to how much for a service charge, however how much to replace said part"
Again the guy responded with a blank look "$125 service charge."
Left as a shop that couldn't answer what a repair cost leaves on wondering what the heck they do there.
Next stop was to the dealer. They hooked it up to the computer verified that hot air wasn't coming out of the vent and the necessary repair was to replace the whole system. 7-10 days to order the part a day in the shop to do the work bill was est about $2500.
Ended up finding a shop a one man show. got in the jeep verified not heat out of the vent checked the computer and yup the actuator was shot. Said can order the part, install about 1/2 hour looking at $350-$400 out the door.
Just had the work done plenty of hot air coming out now, shop gave me the old part which when opened a broken pin holding a gear inplace was the culprit.
Will be having a chat with the dealer Tuesday why they advised a $2500 job when it wasn't necessary.

The dealer can be hit and miss for getting good service. I come from a family of mechanics and unfortunately it seems there's more bad places than good from the stories I hear. Both dealerships and private outfits. The sad thing is these days there's not enough incentive for young guys to get good at the job or even do it in the first place so everyone has to pay the price.
As I'm currently driving a RAM, we have a name for them, owned by Stellantis, a.k.a. Stella antics, short of having to buy dealer only parts, I will never buy another vehicle from them.Quote:

Everything new seems to be completely disposable.
finding a good tech is like a unicorn - theyre retiring in droves and not being replaced, so when you go to most shops its cheaper for them (and for you) to throw a new part to correct the issue instead of paying a tech to try and diagnose the issue.. especially with todays vehicles with all the electronics, modules, etc...
